Montgomery.

But as a teacher I think it's really hard to find a shockingly unusual name nowadays.

The kids I feel sorry for are the ones with names plucked from very popular movies or tv series. We have a few coming up now with Game of Thrones names.

I considered this as I love the name Monty but then thought that might be more suited to a dog 🐶

Rex and Sonny

Cupofteaneeded · 24/08/2023 19:11

Atticus…. if it had gone better with our surname I would have loved that as my favourite book (and film) is To Kill a Mockingbird

Ziggy.
I always loved that Bob Marley's son was named this. However, I can't imagine it going down well in reality.

I wanted Ziggy too!

booksandbrooks · 24/08/2023 20:39

Crikey. I think I'm winning friends with weird baby names bingo over here.

SiobhanSharpe · 24/08/2023 20:50

Can't believe no-one has picked Balonz...

greglet · 24/08/2023 21:03

@yogasaurus and @Hembria we used Magnus last year and have only ever had compliments on it (to our faces 😬)!

Hembria · 24/08/2023 21:07

I love Magnus! ❤️ it is a great name

@yogasaurus and @Hembria we used Magnus last year and have only ever had compliments on it (to our faces 😬)!

It’s amazing! I wish I’d been brave enough

What is the mumsnet thing with Balonz?

birdglasspen · 24/08/2023 21:29

tb4122 · 24/08/2023 11:41

Hector.

Was on our list but we weren't brave enough. He definitely isn't a Hector as it turns out anyway Grin. It won't be on the list if we have another boy.

Hector’s are stubborn from the 3 I know😂 my son is Eachann which is gaelic for Hector

Feelingss · 24/08/2023 21:31

Also love Zeb but couldn't quite bring myself to go for the full Zebedee.

Also like Moth short for Timothy.

(Note: my son has a not-hugely-common but not out-there name)

soundsys · 24/08/2023 21:36

Ooh or Taliesin. But I'm not Welsh, nor do I live in Wales, and I already have a child with an unusual Welsh name, so...

Batinthehouse · 24/08/2023 21:39

Balthazar, Idris, Lucien, Rufus.

Natureswick · 24/08/2023 21:44

I have a Cassius which I've seen mentioned on here.
I dont think it's particularly "out there" now but I did have a wobble for a few months after he was born and I was embarrassed to tell people his name.
Thankfully he's grown into it 😅
