I love beautiful feminine names such as Celeste, Estelle, Nova, Juliet, Arabella, Seren, Bellatrix, Louisa, Aurora, Selena, Portia, Starla, Luna, Delia, Phoebe, Lucie. What do you think of these and what would recommend based off my list?

Is Bellatrix a real name?

2020Raquet · 23/08/2023 16:51

When I glanced at the title to your thread, I thought it was going to be a question about HRT. So unfortunately, that’s the first thing that springs to mind for a lot of those names.

PalaceOfThePanda · 23/08/2023 16:55

Bellatrix? Who on earth wants to be named that?

PurpleChrayne · 23/08/2023 16:57

Estelle is nice.

Celeste sounds like incest.

Nova is what a teenage mum in Kentucky would call her kid.

Lifeinlists · 23/08/2023 17:14

Seren and Nova; do you listen to The Archers?!

The only ones I'd go for from your list are Juliet, Louisa, maybe Portia and Arabella, and Lucy with that spelling. But that's just me.
A long list can complicate rather than help so it might be a good idea to pick out the ones you really love fairly early and dump the rest.

Whatsthepoint1234 · 23/08/2023 17:30

Bellatrix is lovely but I read it as Beatrix which I always wanted to call my dd from childhood (I have two lovely boys instead).

Lucie = no as LL case is big at the moment

Luna, Nova and Aurora will date badly.

My favourite is Arabella (on my dd longlist)

My suggestions:
Laurel
Felicity
Temperance (my guilty pleasure)
Beatrix (Bibi is a great nickname)
Pippa
Eliana
Ruth
Lila
Odelia
Riva/Reeva
Nadia
Marnie

OK:
Juliet
Louisa
Portia
Estelle - prefer Estella
Delia
Phoebe
Arabella - never met a nice one

Not OK:
Celeste, Nova, Seren, Bellatrix, Aurora, Starla, Luna, Lucie.Selena

Whatsthepoint1234 · 23/08/2023 18:38

I’ve realised where Bellatrix is from. Bellatrix Lestrange (I think that’s her surname) is a Death Eater in Harry Potter!

Neverseenbefore · 23/08/2023 18:54

Celeste - no.
Estelle - no. Stella is better.
Nova -tacky.
Juliet -yes.
Arabella - no, too frilly.
Seren - tacky
, Bellatrix - Harry Potter.
Louisa -yes.
Aurora -tacky now, even though a Roman goddess.
, Selena, -yes.
Portia -Ok, but not keen, despite Shakespeare. I think it means pig-like.
Starla -is this a name?
Luna -tacky
Delia -hmm. OK. Unusual.
Phoebe -yes.
Lucie. -Lucy is better, but a bit problematic now.

MirandaBlu · 23/08/2023 19:17

I might avoid Nova as it's one of the most ubiquitous car models ever (Chevrolet) and - ironically, in light of the first point - Spanish for "[he/she/it] doesn't go".

Seren always makes me think of names like Eden, Elowen, Imogen, Mirren, Morven, Morwen, Rhiannon, Rowan, Vivien - you might like some of those? I like Selena and Serena too. Oh, and Genevieve.

Sandysandwich · 23/08/2023 19:31

A few of your names seem space/sky themed so maybe names like Elara, Cressida, Astra, Astrid, Hera, Gaia, Maia, Electra, Leilani, Estella, Miranda, Pandora.

I like Nova, Aurora and Seren.
I would worry that Lucie would be spelt as Lucy as its more common

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/08/2023 19:35

Celeste is a birth control tablet. Nova is a car. Used to be driven by burberry cap wearing spotty youths with a sub in the back blasting bounce music.

Is Bellatrix off Harry Potter? Luna every other child and dog round here is called Luna.

The others while not names I would pick myself are nice enough and inoffensive.

Hibernatalie · 23/08/2023 21:21

Eleanora

Celeste and Juliet are my favorite from your list. Aurora is quite nice as well but it’s kind of difficult to say.

Estelle and Juliet are lovely

ren1412 · 12/12/2023 14:28

Seren is alright, however maybe Zerena sounds better (Zer-wren-ner). Depends on preference really.

peaceinourtime · 19/12/2023 15:26

Seren or Delia.

Hoiz · 19/12/2023 15:38

Nova is chavvy

Seamist22 · 19/12/2023 16:17

Celeste - nice
