What do you think of this name

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ApolloandDaphne · 20/08/2023 14:12

It makes me think of the posters of my youth.

xmasbbq · 20/08/2023 14:13

Fine, quite nice. No problems with it, don't love it.

continentallentil · 20/08/2023 14:17

It’s nice enough, I like the Athene version better

Tinytigertail · 20/08/2023 14:19

It's a pretty name, but I've heard it in London pronounced with an 'f' rather than a 'th" and it sounds awful.

Yes.

PatsyJStone · 20/08/2023 14:26

Love it!

TheInseparables · 20/08/2023 14:27

Love it, and no one under 40 will think of the poster shop.

Yes my in-laws would say 'feena'

toastofthetown · 20/08/2023 14:45

I don't love it, but don't think it's awful. There are so many other Goddess names I prefer; Artemis, Gaia and Persephone are all leagues nicer than Athena to me. It's very wearable though and maybe more popular than many might think. I know more than one in my (not very interesting or diverse name-wise) community, with siblings Leo, Freya and Sienna.

Passerillage · 20/08/2023 14:48

Love it. Fairly frequent name in Greece.

I really approve of giving girls outstandingly strong names and goddess names. Hero, Juno, Artemis as mentioned above.

MerryChristmasToYou · 20/08/2023 17:35

Athina Onassis.

YoongiMarryMe · 20/08/2023 18:14

Love it

Backhometothenorth · 20/08/2023 18:23

Athene much nicer I think

amylou8 · 20/08/2023 18:31

Poster shop, but I doubt anyone much younger than 35 remembers it.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 20/08/2023 20:34

Posters.
Anthea?

BlueKaftan · 20/08/2023 20:36

Athena absolutely yes
Anthea?? No!!

peaceinourtime · 21/08/2023 07:25

Anthea is nice, I've never heard of Athena until Mumsnet.

blushroses6 · 21/08/2023 15:11

I love it!

Miriam44 · 21/08/2023 23:54

It’s a really pretty and strong name with lots of rich history.

becarefulofyourheart · 22/08/2023 00:01

Like it a lot, I thought first of the goddess then the poster shop but I am old. I like the strength of it, and most mythological names. Also am a big fan of Andromachi (but it might be a bit much if you’re not of Greek heritage).

CallieQ · 22/08/2023 00:03

Poster shop...

MaggieBsBoat · 22/08/2023 00:03

It’s nice but remember the stress goes on the last a: so it’s Athen- aaaaa

Atheeeena as I tho n you are saying it, is the same as the city Athens.

This!

But it's a fine name in truth.
