Morning all, happy Saturday. I have a friend who's having a baby and would some advice on her choices. She likes Asa for a boy which is nice and different. For a girl, she can't decide between Celia or Cecilia. I like Celia better as its simple and not a mouth full. Thoughts?

The Cecelia’s I know just go by Celia. I like the simplicity of Celia.

Not heard of Asa before.

Hi @peaceinourtime
My fav would be Celia too!

Celia

KirstenBlest · 19/08/2023 12:28

Both are fine. Cecilia is OK but will get spelt as Cecelia a lot, and I don't like the 'cess' sound - it's too much like cess pit.

AdaColeman · 19/08/2023 12:57

I prefer Cecilia, as it has a softer sound than the more harsh Celia, making it a much prettier name.
The Cecilia I know is never called Celia, and she has Cece for her nickname.

My favourite of that group of names is Cecilie or with the Cecily spelling.

I wouldn't know how to say Cece. does it rhyme with Fleece, Jessie or does it sound like CeeCee?

I prefer Delia to Celia, but both are ok.

I like Cecilia of the two, it’s lighter - but they are both nice

How about Cecile?

How about Cecil for the boy?

nanasui · 20/08/2023 08:02

Celia of the two. But I also prefer Cecily.

I have a friend, (29) called Cecilia and I know a Clelia (14), but any of those are good
