Ophelia. Aria Arya sounds like a passing trend, too vowel heavy and could be the name of a baby milk formula.

FatButtPiglet · 18/08/2023 13:33

I personally love the name Ophelia out of the options you gave! Ariane just reminds me a bit too much of the word "aryan".

supplelegmassage · 18/08/2023 14:01

Ophelia :)

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 18/08/2023 14:13

Ophelia!

MrsSamR · 18/08/2023 14:17

Ophelia is my first daughter's name so I'm obviously going to pick it!

Also agree with PP that Arya is a bit faddy.

DuploTrain · 18/08/2023 14:17

I’ve never been keen on Ophelia.

Out of Aria/ Arya I prefer Aria.
I feel like Arya is more likely to be pronounced as per game of thrones “ar - ya” rather than “ari - ya”.

BringOutTheGimp · 18/08/2023 14:19

I prefer Ophelia; it is a beautiful name. However if the surname is or could be pronounced as a body part such as “Legge” or “Dix”, it sounds like a description of a grope.

shoopshoopdedoo · 18/08/2023 16:36

I prefer Ophelia to Aria for the reasons others have given, but I think it’s quite frilly. I like Anya and Ariadne, which seem similar to me.

Sandysandwich · 18/08/2023 16:54

Aria is really nice

Coffeeandcakemum · 18/08/2023 17:17

Ophelia 😊

KirstenBlest · 18/08/2023 20:58

I don't like any of them, but Ophelia is the least bad. Aria seems completely nothingy. Arya males me think of Aryan. Ariane sounds like 'Arry Anne.

Ophelia sounds too close to 'feel ya', and it has tragic connotations

Fishhhh · 18/08/2023 21:18

Oriel

daisypond · 18/08/2023 21:20

I loathe Ophelia.
Aria it is -spelled like that.
But Ariane is much better. I know one.

usernamealreadytaken · 18/08/2023 22:49

I love Ophelia. Can I throw Ariadne out there as an alternative?

ChristmasCrumpet · 18/08/2023 22:52

Ophelia is so overused.

Aria is equally popular.

Arya, just no. It will be pronounced Are Ya?

OopsieeDaisy · 19/08/2023 10:39

I personally can’t stand Ophelia, to me it sounds like someone trying to sound posh!

Aria is ok but maybe a bit of a trend name?

M00nknight · 19/08/2023 14:29

@usernamealreadytaken how would you pronounce that itsounds beautiful

KirstenBlest · 19/08/2023 14:30

@M00nknight , Arry Adny

peaceinourtime · 19/08/2023 14:34

I know of an Aria who goes by Ari. Something to consider perhaps?

Neverjudgeabookbyitscover · 19/08/2023 16:44

I like Ophelia, although I know of quite a few.

That said, I don't it with the O (Oh) emphasised with a slight pause before the "phelia" if that makes sense.
A shorter O flowing with the name sounds so much nicer.

Just my opinion obviously, it's personal preference like everything else.

continentallentil · 19/08/2023 17:35

Of the two, Ophelia - it’s a bit more of a classic. They safe both popular right now.

Ariadne
Artemis / Artemisia
Cordelia

would all be more unusual and (I think) nicer

RuthW · 19/08/2023 17:47

Arianne is lovely. Ophelia is ok but popular.
Aria is awful in my opinion and I never know how to say it.

thank you, I love the name - I'd say it as Arry (like Harry, but drop the H) ad nee x
