We cant decide between two boys names
(We have Arthur as a middle name)

We live in wales so hence the welsh names/spelling.

Huw or Edwyn (would be called Eddie)

Thank you :)

Edwyn

Womblegreen · 16/08/2023 16:35

Huw

YukoandHiro · 16/08/2023 16:37

Prefer the spelling Edwin, but it's a lovely name

Gettinagoldtoof · 16/08/2023 16:37

Edwyn is adorable

Whataretheodds · 16/08/2023 16:39

I like both and since you are living in Wales you will get the Welsh pronunciation of Huw.

How do they work with your surname? Might you try for other children and would they each work equally well with what you might call them?

Pinkdelight3 · 16/08/2023 16:50

Eddie is cute. Huw is a nice name on paper but can be a pain IRL beyond the border. 'Huw Arthur' could be too much like "Who, Arthur?'. I'd go Eddie.

Love Edwyn

DacwMamYnDwad · 16/08/2023 21:04

Both are nice. Edwyn isn't a Welsh name but it is a Welsh word. The word is not much used and i'm struggling to think of the translation. Something like 'has a knowingness of'.

Arthur sounds quite different in Welsh, and is a strong-sounding name, arth being the Welsh for bear.

Theoldwoman · 17/08/2023 14:01

Edwyn Arthur

DacwMamYnDwad · 17/08/2023 14:08

I prefer the Edwin spelling. Huw seems a bit dated, having been very popular in the 20th century, and I don't like it being said as Hugh. I do like the name, but I quite a few of them.

Edwyn

Prefer Edwyn

JulieBindelHasAKindle · 17/08/2023 16:41

Huw = Edwards in my mind but I’m sure that will blow over
Edwyn is nice however it seems to have the same meaning as Edwin so I’d probably spell it that way

Coffeeandcakemum · 17/08/2023 20:55

Edwyn 😊

StillWantingADog · 17/08/2023 20:57

Def Huw
bur I think there is a potential pronunciation problem here.
I’m welsh and liked Huw but my dh couldn’t really say it properly so it was crossed off our list. Of course that might not bother you at all.

Eddie.
