Baby Name Help!!!!

Rebecca1803 · 16/08/2023 02:00

Hello,
My partner and I just can't decide on a name for our baby boy.
We already have a daughter called Amelia so we'd like something that flows nicely with that.
We have four names in the running and we'd like to know which you think is best.
The four names are:-

Arthur
Alfie (not sure with this whether to have Alfred or Alfie)
Stanley
Henry

Thank you in advance for any help.

Arthur or Alfie

Mumofgirls2017 · 16/08/2023 08:35

Like them all apart from Arthur

Workawayxx · 16/08/2023 08:57

Henry is my favourite and the one I think goes best with Amelia. I like Stanley also but think it goes less well with Amelia for some reason.

MissHoollie · 16/08/2023 09:00

They are all lovely.

OopsieeDaisy · 16/08/2023 09:00

Those are all nice names. Henry goes best with Amelia for me, also love Stanley but I’m not sure it goes as well. Alfie is nice but I personally prefer it as a nn for Alfred.

KirstenBlest · 16/08/2023 14:36

Arthur - ok, popular
Alfie - not keen but if you pick it put Alfred on the BC
Stanley - ok, but will be Stan
Henry - ok, probably the best of the bunch

I'm not keen on any of them, but I'm not English and I do like the welsh pronunciation of Arthur.

Henry

Henry

Henry goes really nicely with Amelia.

Coronationstation · 16/08/2023 16:42

Amelia and Henry is best IMO

MrsSamR · 16/08/2023 17:22

I love Stanley. I think Arthur or Alfie would be too matchy matchy with Amelia and there are literally a billion boys called Henry.

Lyricallie · 16/08/2023 17:24

I like Henry out of them the others sound a bit so so. But as someone else said I’m not English so they would definitely not be popular in my neck of the woods.

AngryCasper · 16/08/2023 18:24

I like Henry the best.
Not keen on Alfie.. it’s way overused where I’m from.

AnnieFarmer · 16/08/2023 18:29

Henry

PickledScrump · 16/08/2023 20:36

Henry goes best, I’d avoid another A name as it’s a bit matchy

Rebecca1803 · 16/08/2023 22:04

Thank you everyone for your opinions and help, I think its definitely helped me dwindle it down.

Definitely Henry.
John
William
Michael
Samuel
Daniel

Well, much easier in life for siblings to have different initials, which rules out 2 of the names, leaving Henry and Stanley.

I personally and mot really keen on either, but I think Stanley is a bit more fashionable - which some would think of as a positive and others wouldn't want it to be a more popular name amongst peers.
I think it depends as well, if you mind 'Stan' . I don't think Henrys tend to be shortened much but I am aware Stanleys do and read on here some people don't like the natural shortening of the given name.

ellenpartridge · 17/08/2023 00:08

Henry

Theoldwoman · 17/08/2023 00:18

Amelia and Henry.

I wouldn’t use another A name. Stanley is too Corrie St for me.

mathanxiety · 17/08/2023 00:36

I like Arthur and Henry.

Not keen on the others.

Clearevening · 17/08/2023 00:37
