Girl version for Joseph

Busted2006 · 12/08/2023 18:55

We want to use a girl version for Joseph as my DD middle name.

All I can think of is Josephine and Josie.

I don't love Josephine and Josie doesn't work with the 1st name we have chosen which is Rosa.

Help!!!

Jocelyn? Jocasta?

PuttingDownRoots · 12/08/2023 18:57

Just Jo. I think Rosa Jo has a nice feel to it.

SternJosie · 12/08/2023 18:58

Joey or Jo.

We named DD2 after my FIL, Joseph but who was known as Joe. I didn't like Josephine or Josie so we used joanna

Einevinefine · 12/08/2023 19:04

Josephina?

EarthlyNightshade · 12/08/2023 19:05

I know a Josepha, in her 40s now. She was usually called Joey.

Einevinefine · 12/08/2023 19:05

Scrap that suggestion OP, don’t think my suggestion works w Rosa. Apologies

PurpleBrocadePeacock · 12/08/2023 19:06

Josephina
Sefina / Sefi
Joanna (which, yeah, isn’t the same name but keeps the Joe bit)

TeenDivided · 12/08/2023 19:09

To my mind if you are doing this to 'honour' a relative I think it needs to be Josephine or nothing at all. It isn't honouring to just randomly keep a tiny bit of the name.

Can you do 3 names e.g. Rosa Milly Josephine

I don’t understand why it matters that you don’t love Josephine. If you want to honour someone you just use the name. It’s not like you’ll be using it on a day to day basis.

Mind you before MN I’d didn’t realise that people gave middle names that weren’t honouring anyone. That’s all I’d ever known or heard of.

Busted2006 · 12/08/2023 21:07

Because I want to love my daughters name.

We do use our older childrens fn and mn together quite often

IMO, I don't think any version of Joseph works with Rose or Rosa, as the middle vowel sounds are too similar. I think your only way around it is a previous suggestion of having a first middle name between Rosa and Josephine.
