We aren’t finding out the sex, we have a son Maximilian Arthur - goes by Max. I like a name that is longer than can be shortened. Don’t like super modern names Coby, Rocco etc

Boys
Casper
Sebastian
Barnaby/ Barney
Gabriel
August
Theodore - I’m not 100% on this

Girls
Matilda - the name we had for our son
Margot/ Margaux
Ida
Harriet/ Hattie
Olive
Ottilie
Felicity

or any suggestions we might also like?

mathanxiety · 07/08/2023 20:21

The names on your boy list are all great imo - if I had to pick one, it would be Barnaby.

From your girl list I love Matilda, though would two M first initials matter to you?

Felicity goes well with Maximilian too.

Of the others, I like Hattie, though as a NN for Henrietta. Max and Hattie has a nice ring to it, I think.

Suggestions:
Casimir
Nathaniel
Dominic
Benjamin
Solomon

Penelope
Arabella
Magdalena
Adelaide
Christabel

Smittenkitchen · 07/08/2023 20:22

Theodore, (or at least Theo), Olive and Ottilie quite trendy atm if that's a concern.
I vote Gabriel or August, Matilda or Margot.

Workawayxx · 07/08/2023 20:26

My favourites are Barnaby and felicity. Also like Theodore and Matilda but think Matilda is too close to max with the first 2 letters being the same. I also like Verity, Georgina and Benedict or Alexander.

continentallentil · 07/08/2023 22:38

Boys
Casper - nice, though prefer Cassian
Sebastian - ok
Barnaby/ Barney - nice prefer Barnabas

Girls
Matilda - the name we had for our son - nice but overused and a bit much with Max
Margot/ Margaux - being very overused
Ida - I like it
Harriet/ Hattie - nice
Olive - little green thing
Ottilie - far too fussy
Felicity - my favourite

Boys
Casper - I like it, it’s suddenly getting mentioned on here quite a bit. Jasper is also nice
Sebastian - not keen
Barnaby/ Barney - has the cute factor but I associate it too much with a dog’s name
Gabriel - not keen
August - really love it
Theodore - the whole Teddy/Theo thing is very popular now although I do like Theo

Girls
Matilda - yip, would be cute
Margot/ Margaux - I’d spell it Margot but it has taken a massive jump in popularity in the last few months even, if that’s a problem for you then maybe avoid it but I do like the name
Ida - yeah cute
Harriet/ Hattie - like both, Harriet on birth certificate
Olive - this one came up on here recently and I said how nice it is. It’s also different to Olivia which is lovely but very very popular now
Ottilie - not keen
Felicity - not keen

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/08/2023 23:00

Love Casper and Matilda.

however thing Sebastian/ Theodore and ottilie go best.

QuiltedHippo · 07/08/2023 23:04

Nix Theodore it's so boring now
Love Max and Seb together
I think August is going to be big in boys names, get in there now ahead of the trend!

For girls I love Harriet, Felicity, Oliver
Would avoid the M names as you have a Max
Ottilie is just too Zoella

Sebastian and Olive are my favourites!

Himawarigirl · 08/08/2023 13:07

I like your list and, as a PP said, I also like Gilbert/Gil.
Not so keen on Barnaby/Barney or Casper. I also like Jesper, which we saw in a film. But that might just condemn them to a life of constantly being called Jasper and having to correct people.
My MIL is called Felicity and goes by Felix, which I like.

Busubaba · 08/08/2023 13:54
