Are these girl names too dated?

Lauren, Nicole, Brooke

I quite like these names but I’m not sure if they’re too dated to use or due for a comeback. My favorite combination is Lauren Nicole. Are they too bland or dated? I Would love hear your honest feedback.

IMO Lauren and Jessica are not dated but Brooke is. I'm on the fence about Nicola. Maybe it's due a comeback?

Topseyt123 · 03/08/2023 08:54

I like Lauren, Nicole and Jessica. Not Brooke.

I don't see them as dated. If you like them use them.

TakenRoot · 03/08/2023 08:55

All fine except Brooke

Mystro202 · 03/08/2023 08:55

My sister is Lauren Nicole 😊 She's 20. And my daughter is Jessica. She's 7. I also like Brooke. I don't think they are dated at all.

CastleTower · 03/08/2023 09:06

I find Nicole a little "older", and as a middle I might assume it was a relative's name (in a positive way).

The others are all completely fine. Lauren Nicole is nice.

Refreshing change after all the Grace / Eve / Isabel / Olivia names sooooo bored of them!

continentallentil · 03/08/2023 09:47

Lauren was quite a 90s name so I guess it is a bit.

Nicole was never popular enough to be dated but Nicola was very popular indeed in the 70s/80s so it is. I think the main problem is Nicole sounds quite harsh in a lot of UK accents.

Brooke’s definitely never popular enough to be dated, but it’s becoming more popular as it fits with current nature names like Wren and Robin, which means it might end up being dated… it’s nice but a bit faddy

Jessica is obviously a classic.

Anyway I like Lauren Nicole, or Jessica Brooke

FayCarew · 03/08/2023 10:26

They're dated. I never liked them anyway. Jessica's lovely.

StamppotAndGravy · 03/08/2023 10:46

How about Nicolette? It's dated on the continent but was never popular in the UK so wouldn't seem so dated.

Comedycook · 03/08/2023 10:49

Jessica isn't dated imo

Lauren and Nicole are very 90s. But I actually like them both.

Not sure about Brooke...a bit 2000s perhaps

1993GoToo · 03/08/2023 10:51

Yes, all dated but still quite pretty. Nicole is the best

Mrsjayy · 03/08/2023 10:51

I'm not keen on Brooke even when it was popular, the others are fine and will imo always rotate and Come back.

BrutusMcDogface · 03/08/2023 10:52

Lauren is a beautiful name. I think it’s timeless, like Laura.

Jessica is extremely popular where I live.

TheBloatedMiddle · 03/08/2023 10:54

I like the combination of Lauren Nicole. It's my kind of era though- I am late 40s

Off topic though, but I overheard a Gladys the other day. (Not on a child.... on an older woman) but I thought that this was a dated name that might not even survive the granny chic trend right now.

Fivebeanchilli · 03/08/2023 10:59

I see them all as dated with the possible exception of Jessica. I know lots of Laurens and Jessicas in their 20s. The Nicoles are mainly in their 30s. I don't know any Brookes but I don't like it.

CallieQ · 03/08/2023 11:00

Lauren and Jessica lovely

itsmyp4rty · 03/08/2023 11:01

I agree that Lauren is timeless. Brooke is too American for me. Jessica and Nicole are fine but I like Lauren best.

SunnieShine · 03/08/2023 11:02

I like them all except Brooke.

Nicola is due a comeback, and Nicole is lovely. Or how about Simone?

FayCarew · 03/08/2023 11:05

Lauren isn't timeless. It seems very 1980s american. I think it sounds harsh.

Mrsjayy · 03/08/2023 11:13

I don't think Lauren is a 1980s American name that doesn't really make much sense except to bash Americans.

FayCarew · 03/08/2023 11:22

I'm not bashing americans - it was very popular in the USA in the 1980s. It looks quite pretty but I don't like the sound. Lorrun.

It was originally a man's name, pretty much until Lauren Bacall real name Betty Joan Perske made it seem more a woman's name.

I was told by an ex whose name it was that Loren is the male version and Lauren the female. I think it's dated and unattractive, if not as bad as Brooke.

Nicole is nice, and not dated in the UK. The Nicoles I know (in Europe) are in their 70s and 90s respectively, so it could be due a revival. I'd personally avoid Nicola though, as most of the bitchy girls at school were called that.

I don't think you can go wrong with Jessica.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 03/08/2023 11:39

I love Lauren and Nicole two of my fave girl names.

Gnomegnomegnome · 03/08/2023 11:43

I love Nicole, closely followed by Jessica but not a fan of Lauren and definitely not Brooke.

Nicole makes me think of the Renault Clio advert but I love it.

Jessica is just beautiful.

Brooke and Lauren feel a bit 90’s home and away or Beverly Hills 90210.
