Alexander or just Sasha

Older child has longer name for b/c which we use daily along with various shortenings.

Sasha would literally only be Sasha wouldn’t ever want to use a different shorter form. Love the name Sasha/ Sacha so much and would be disappointed that it wouldn’t be “official” anywhere. But

a) it’s traditionally never a standalone name and I’m a traditionalist

b) life is long; trends change and if he wants to ever use the full name or a different diminutive he could.

only other thing to consider is that we always introduce older child in full name and use it. But would only want to introduce him as Sasha and use that so that might feel a bit unbalanced. And I much prefer Sasha to Alexander

@BringOnSummerHolidays "Alexander because Sashas are mostly girls in the UK. You can't give him a name like this."

I do hope you say the same on all the threads saying how wonderful Ellis, Jamie and Noah are for girls....

Noa is a girls name.

I have taught a female and a male Sasha. The girl was definitely just Sasha but I think the boy was Alexander. It was never ever used by anyone though, even on official certificates.

I think I would use Alexander though, just to give options. And might consider spelling it Sacha as that clues people in to him being a boy whereas Sasha, while used fo boys, makes you think girl until you meet him.

Alexander. They are both great names, but having the "proper" name will give him much more flexibility/be more appropriate when he is a 40 year old barrister or a 50 year old bank manager 😂

Definitely Alexander and use Sasha. I always think Sasha is very girly.

I’d use Alexander. Sasha Will usually be assumed to be a female name

Alexander because Sashas are mostly girls in the UK. You can't give him a name like this. It's like Hillary, Leslie or Robin. Unless he's really brave he'll want to be known as Alex.

My Sasha loves his name, suits it. Also doesn’t wish to be known as Alex

Alexander.

Does he like having the full name as well as his shorter version?

He likes to catch people out, show off when they don’t know his actual proper name is Aleksander 🤣🤣

He really suit his name though, I wasn’t sure actually to start off with as hubby picked his name as we wanted a Ukrainian name. But when he was born he was deffo a Sasha.

He also discovered recently that Gerard Piqué’s son, (footballer) is also Sasha and the same age as him. He loves this fact!
