I had a dream that my best friend named her baby Zelda and I was SUPER jealous because it suddenly occurred to me that it was the coolest name ever. I loved it so much in the dream that I’m wondering if it might actually be the coolest name ever 😂 thoughts?

Reminds me of the nasty sister in the Stephen King book - was it Gerald's Game? Horrible name.

7Worfs · 20/07/2023 05:48

Nah, too popular from Legends of Zelda.

It also sounds like a type of cabbage, not pretty at all.

DeeCeeCherry · 20/07/2023 06:04

I immediately thought 'Witch'. So, perhaps not..

BlueKaftan · 20/07/2023 06:05

Love it. Quirky and strong.

arielmanto96 · 20/07/2023 06:10

I think it's the coolest name ever. But names are such an individual thing. You only have to look at any baby name post to see how people love and hate the same name.

I have also played Zelda games for years, and it's amazing how many people have never heard of the franchise. So I wouldn't say it's too popular because of that.

BlibBlobBloo · 20/07/2023 06:13

It's what Robin Williams named his daughter

ThoseDamnCrows · 20/07/2023 06:19

Terrahawks was my first thought

DiscoStusMoonboots · 20/07/2023 06:33

Love it, will be trying to convince my husband it deserves a place on the list!

QuinnofHearts · 20/07/2023 06:43

There's a girl at my sons school called Zelda. Unless she needs to be rescued by a Link or is a witch with a niece called Sabrina... it's a ridiculous name.

You and me both... Maybe showing our age with that reference. 😁

BananaBunches · 20/07/2023 07:16

Terrahawks.

She wasn't pretty either!

Newusernamee · 20/07/2023 07:19

ermmm, it’s a no for me for all the reasons above!

what about Zena or Kelda?!

avaviolet · 20/07/2023 07:20

I like it but I'm a Nintendo fan 😂 Couldn't disassociate it from the video game.

piglet81 · 20/07/2023 07:21

I really like it!

MerryChristmasToYou · 20/07/2023 08:08

I like it, and it's a lot better than the current trend for insipid vowelly or L- names

ConnieSaks · 20/07/2023 09:21

Zelda reminds me of F Scott Fitzgerald (particularly Tender is the Night)

ZeldasMum · 20/07/2023 09:25

My DD is called Zelda! Suits her to a T.

I am not a big fan of the video games, but Zelda the video game character is pretty cool so that hasn't stopped me from using the name.

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 20/07/2023 13:15

I also had only associated the name with F Scott Fitzgerald! I don’t know the ‘Terrahawks’ reference and remember the video game now it’s been mentioned but I’ve had a quick Google and she seems pretty cool 😁 As for the witch - I don’t think I ever watched Sabrina but I do love witchy names - my daughter is Tabitha which is a bit witchy because of Bewitched, and I also love Winnie which I also think has a satisfyingly spooky vibe. Maybe witchy names are my cup of tea.

I agree! And great choice @ZeldasMum ! It’s a really cool name. Seems strong but feminine at the same time.

Zelda Fitzgerald had such an unhappy life and died in a fire in a mental institution in the town where I live so not good associations for me.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 20/07/2023 14:27

I love it. It'd be in my top 10 girls names.

LosingTheBelly · 20/07/2023 14:36

So funny how you associate names with people. I knew a Zelda (she was the aunt of a friend) growing up and she was a complete glass half empty person. (my friend described her not as a glass half empty person- but a 'the glass has been stolen' person).

So I associate the name with a discontented, pursed lipped dissatisfied moaning person who had nothing good to say about anything or anyone.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 20/07/2023 14:38

It's my Dd's cat's name, from the game.

Moveoverdarlin · 20/07/2023 14:40

Tabitha to me is posh, horsey, jolly hockey sticks - not witchy. Zelda is very witchy. Isn’t there a character called Aunt Zelda from something?

WaltzingWaters · 20/07/2023 14:43

Not a fan. Like others have said, I just think witch.
