Hi all
I’m expecting a baby girl in a week and we still haven’t decided on a name! Argh! Partner and I can’t agree but we both like the below names to various degrees. What would you go for? My favourite is Eve but partner isn’t too keen.

Any other suggestions welcome

Elizabeth
Eve
Charlotte
Isobel
Katherine

Thanks!

If you like Eve or Evelyn, how about Carolyn and it can be shortened to Carrie or Callie.

Isobel is lovely (I am biased as it's in family too).

uncomfortablydumb53 · 13/07/2023 14:56

Isobel is my favourite
Elizabeth would give a wide choice of shortenings, which is nice

FannythePinkFlamingo · 13/07/2023 15:22

Katherine spelt Catherine and Elizabeth are my favourites. I may be bias though as one in my first name, and the other my middle name. You can get so many diminutives from either as well.

Katie
Katy
Kate
Kat
Cate
Libby
Lizzy
Beth
Betty
Betsy
Tizzi

Just a few examples!

If you and partner are both undecided and both don’t love the same name go back to the start!
look at other names.
Victoria
Caroline
Beatrice
Harriet
Joanna
Heidi

although from your list of choose Katherine as there’s so many shortening’s.

Also as the time is close, wait until she is born and then see - I knew when I saw my ds for the first time what he should be called out of our shortlist!

Love all your names - classic and timeless
i would add
Jennifer
Felicity
Gabrielle
Anna

KeepSmiling89 · 13/07/2023 15:32

Would DP accept Eve as a middle name? I know someone who called their daughter Eve Elizabeth (Elizabeth was the grandparents name), but Elizabeth Eve would still be lovely too.
Lovely list of names by the way - couldn't go wrong with any of them IMHO. Very classy selection 🙂

Katherine

OMalleytheAlleyyCat · 13/07/2023 16:16

Charlotte for sure. Then Katherine and Elizabeth - although those two are a bit "I queued in the rain for 3 days to see King Charles drive past in his Bentley", which is fine if you're going for that.

Surely Charlotte is too?

OMalleytheAlleyyCat · 13/07/2023 16:20

Aye it is, but a bit less so I'd say. Maybe it's the fact the Queen's just passed or the spelling of Katherine with a K but unlike those two I don't immediately think "monarchy" if a child is called Charlotte.

Just don't put her in a velvet alice band

MattHandjob · 13/07/2023 16:38

Lillian is classic and not overused

FayCarew · 13/07/2023 17:39

No but it will blend into all the Lily, Lila, Lyla, Layla type names

Mumwho · 13/07/2023 18:07

My friend had Yvie - a nice alterative you like Eve

DangerousAlchemy · 13/07/2023 18:18

Charlotte is nice plus lots of nice nicknames- Lottie, Charlie etc. My neighbour is called Eva which I really like. I gave friends called Heather & Hannah & like those names too. Caitlin is pretty & not overly common. Eliza is lovely too. All the best OP 💖

FayCarew · 13/07/2023 18:26

@Mumwho , is it said as Ivvy? like Yv in Yvette and Yvonne?

ThatFraggle · 13/07/2023 18:29

Pick a name out of a hat.

Then see how you feel about that being THE name. Repeat later in the day, then again, so you have the feeling of being locked into a name but without the commitment.

DeltaLea · 13/07/2023 20:41

Charlotte and call her Lottie?

I know a Cathryn that's called Wren and a Doris that's called Dottie

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/07/2023 22:40

All of them are nice. Elizabeth is my favourite, Isobel least favourite.

Smoothbananagram · 14/07/2023 02:43

Elizabeth or the short versions. I have an Eliza - now 19 - and she actually thanked me the other day for her name!

Theoldwoman · 14/07/2023 13:42

Charlotte

Reh123 · 14/07/2023 18:57

Daenerys

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 15/07/2023 23:40

Elizabeth and Catherine, we have both in our family.
I also like Maria, Rebecca, Georgina, Lucia and Francesca. I like girls names that end in A!

SpecialOnes · 15/07/2023 23:44

Katherine / Kate

Charlotte

Isobel
