No. It's pretentious.

CurlewKate · 11/07/2023 14:13

Don't be silly.

DamaskRosie · 11/07/2023 14:16

Yes, why not? Do watch the initials though- anything with a vowel in the middle can be tricky. Or how about Ulysses?

frecklejuice · 11/07/2023 14:28

First name Frank?!

Yes, think it goes well and think the middle name will tie in really well with my Greek themed livingroom

Middle names are hardly ever used so more or less any name is ok.

BonusHole · 11/07/2023 14:34

nope

Is this one of those threads where it's a comment about a show etc and only people who know, KNOW?

I love it!

But I also did classics at university so I’m overly fond of ancient historical names 😂

Thirty5 · 11/07/2023 14:38

His initials spell FAO
Least of that sprite’s issues I suppose

SconeCreamAndJam · 11/07/2023 14:39

You could of course add in Alfred as well just to be sure.

It’s Boris’ child, number 9?

ForTheSakeOfThePenguin · 11/07/2023 14:43

I don’t know, you need to look at the context. Aristocrat living in old stately home still indulging in shooting parties and similar pursuits? Perfectly reasonable.

Keeping up with the Joneses family living in the average price property? Use the name for the cat.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 11/07/2023 14:46

Already down for Eaton? Perfect.

It's Johnson and his wife's new baby. It's not exactly niche.

ThePoshUns · 11/07/2023 19:15

Totally appropriate.
Odysseus left his wife and children and went onto have a number of liaisons.
Just like his Dad.

I love how this is how the Guardian chose to report it as well 😁

keiratwiceknightly · 11/07/2023 19:45

Odysseus left his wife and kids for years and shagged loads of other women in the meantime. Just saying.

keiratwiceknightly · 11/07/2023 19:45

Ha cross post!

oldnorsesaga · 11/07/2023 19:57

What kind of mockery is this? How would you feel if someone mocks your child's name?
Baby names isn't Odysseus, his name is Fred. Odysseus is his middle name that doesn't even have to be included in most paperwork, as far as I know.

midsomermurderess · 11/07/2023 20:05

Oh God, there's always one.

midsomermurderess · 11/07/2023 20:06

And it's Frank.

Maireas · 11/07/2023 20:09

Frank Johnson. Sounds quite prosaic.
