What do you think of Austin for a boy? In the UK.

Martin

I think we’ve outgrown the Austin Powers era, so if you love it then go for it. An alternative way to get the nn Oz/Ozzie if Oscar has been pinched.

SaveMeFromForearms · 10/07/2023 12:57

Well it's not Austin Martin for starters...

I love it!

Workawayxx · 10/07/2023 12:57

I love it and it was on my list for ds 👍

Like it - Austin Butler who played Elvis in the film was amazing!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/07/2023 13:58

I like it.

I've only ever met one, he's 11.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 11/07/2023 19:18

I like it, husband didn’t and vetoed it.

tinselvestsparklepants · 11/07/2023 19:26

I'm married to one. I love his name, it's classy, I'm never embarrassed by it (and I say that as a friend of someone who went out with a Wayne. Yeah maybe I'm a name snob!) it's a rare name and a good one.

Just watching Ginny and Georgia and the boy is called Austin - l always think what a lovely name it is.

illiterato · 11/07/2023 19:41

Good name. Ds has a friend called Austin (12, nearly 13). His mum fancied the rugby player 🤣. Honestly the Austin Powers thing is totally not a problem. Those movies are not something anyone under 18 has heard of and I can’t see them along a comeback.

it’s classic without being staid or overused and everyone can spell it.

Aquamarine1029 · 11/07/2023 19:42

It's a beautiful name. I had a family member with that name and he died 10 years ago at 94, so it's definitely not a "new" name.

Tisfortired · 11/07/2023 19:53

I’m married to one - love his name.

PickledScrump · 11/07/2023 20:04

@DataNotLore isn’t that Aston?

OP it’s a good name, inoffensive, easy to say, spell without being too popular

Possible confusion with Austin Healey- a car and also the rugby player referenced up thread. But honestly, no one of this Gen has heard of either so it’s all good.

SpringIntoChaos · 11/07/2023 20:13

It's a really cool name...and a nice change from Oliver, George and Leo! (nothing wrong with those names btw, all lovely, but as a teacher of almost 30 years, my word I've said 'Good morning Oliver' so many times I can't tell you 🤣)

I've NEVER said 'Good morning Austin' though...so please, make my day and send him to my school before I retire!!
