Bridget for sibling name to Stanley?

I have a 3 year old Stanley who has taken to calling bump "My Tiny Baby Birdie", so Birdie has stuck and I've fallen in love with it.

But wanting a more formal name for her birth certificate in case she prefers something like that as she grows up (middle name Grace as an option too).

Stanley's middle name is George for the same reason, though he really suits Stanley I've given him choice as my Grandad preferred his middle name and went by that.

What do we think of Bridget?

It's not fair on the baby to let a sibling names her.
Bridget it ok, but you could use Brigitte, Birgitta or Bernadette if you liked.

I'd pick an unrelated name and use Birdie as a nn.

I know an Alberta who’s nickname is Birdie

Bridget isn’t my favourite. But I know siblings who are around 8-10 years called Bridget and Brian

I think Stanley and Bridget sound like an adorable sibling pair!

Junotempest · 09/07/2023 17:20

Bridget is refreshing, I really like!

Donotshushme · 09/07/2023 17:21

They sound like a married couple in their 80s.

Can’t stand Bridget, I think it’s frumpy and ugly sorry. Grace is also overdone as a middle name.

shoopshoopdedoo · 09/07/2023 21:12

I think it’s nice! Also love Stanley.

Oh I actually like Bridget especially with Stanley. Really cute sibset. Birdie is a cute nickname regardless of what full name you choose. Grace is so overdone imo though.

Bridget is quite a hard sound. If you're only choosing it to try to find a long name for Birdie I wouldn't bother.

Birdie could be a name on its own or call her it as a nn and have a proper other name. I wouldn't want to get saddled with Bridget just because my older brother called me birdie on the womb tbh

Birdie is lovely, I'm sure Stanley heard it from his parents so it's not like he's naming his sibling. Either way it doesn't matter if you love the name. I really like Bridget as a more sophisticated name but Birdie has also been used as a nick name for Beatrice, Elisabeth, Bertha, Alberta and Roberta. I'd pick Bridget though .

Thank you all for your responses. Birdie was on my list anyway, so not being cruel by allowing my toddler to name my unborn child. It was just a wonderful coincidence.

However, I have taken all your lovely comments on board and definitely food for thought. Thank you 😊 💓

It’s a really great name and goes very well with Stanley. Good choice 👍

Bridget and Stanley is a great pairing.

ThePoshUns · 11/07/2023 19:28

I think Stanley and Bridget sound lovely as sibling names and love Birdie as a nn. Will be a lovely story as they grow up.

Derrymum123 · 11/07/2023 19:30

OMG it is beautiful. Those names are perfect together. Love it.
