Annie and Alice, too similar?

Dd1 is called Annie and we are expecting DD2 in the Autumn. The only name that DH and I both can agree on is Alice but I’m worried it’s too similar to Annie! What does everyone think? Am I overthinking this?

I don’t think they’re too similar sounding, just that they’re both 5 letter names starting with A. To me Annie is cute and vintage and Alice a bit more traditional and mainstream.
I love the name Annie btw! I would imagine her sister to be a Betty, Violet, Beatrice, Clara maybe. Alice is a good choice too!

Yes I think they are way too similar, especially Alice is shortened to Ali which is pretty common and then you've basically got 2 children with almost identical sounding names.

I do think they’re similar, perhaps not stylistically but alongside an identical surname will look (but not sound, so much) pretty close.

Just think there are names that compliment Annie better. Florence, Constance, Eloise, Rosamund, Mabel eg

I think they're a bit close. I'd look for something else.

I think they're similar in that they both start with an A but they're not similar sounding names, so I don't think it's a problem. You can keep looking at different names, as you and your DH might find something else you like but if you can't and you both like Alice, I'd say go for it.

Imagine being cross and tripping over the names - would be a no from me!

Ending rather than start

I have two children with quite similar names and I just call them the wrong names all the time, don't do it! Both are pretty, but there are lots of other names.

Slightly different name - Elise
Though if you go with your favourite names, I really don’t think it will be an issue, the are both lovely names.

My vote is too close. You’ll end up saying Allie and Anice.

I don't know any Alice's who are called Ali. Al at a push but usually it's the full name Alice.

Yes I think they are a bit too similar. Plenty of lovely names in a similar vein. What about Clara?
