Middle name for Poppy

Gave birth on Saturday & named my little girl Poppy. I wasn’t going to give her a middle name but my gran thinks I’ll regret it & she hates the fact she doesn’t have a middle name. I don’t want to give her one for the sake of it but I liked Arabella as a name originally & means “answered prayer” & we had been trying for a year & half & was just about to go down the IVF route & she’s also a rainbow baby we had a miscarriage 2 months after trying. Poppy Arabella Chisholm? How does that sound? My grans name is Jeanette so I thought of Poppy Jean. I’m open to suggestions. My sister suggested Peach & liked blossom. I like cute frilly nature names & classic traditional names.

I like flower/plant names. Willow and Lavender would be my girl names if I’d needed them.

DS would’ve been called Sunshine if he’d been a girl.

blisstwins · 06/07/2023 01:51

Poppy peach is silly. Poppy Jean would be my vote. Live poppy

HappiDaze · 06/07/2023 01:51

Yes definitely after your grandmother Jean or Jeanette.

Jeanette is actually a really lovely name and it'll mean the world to them both to be connected like that

My DC have middle names relating to grandparents

HappiDaze · 06/07/2023 01:53

You are of course allowed more than one middle name so Jeanette and another one you like the sound of

Peach is a bit daft

HappiDaze · 06/07/2023 01:53

Rosebud is cute

Love Poppy Jean

Moonchild5 · 06/07/2023 02:07

Yeah I’m not going with peach as cutesy as it sounds I like Poppy blossom but doesn’t go with surname. My gran said Poppy Jean reminds her of the song Billie Jean & can’t take it seriously. I liked the idea of something to do with a rainbow or sunshine something bright & happy I thought of Poppy Sol(meaning sun) don’t know if that’s silly though but something like that.

Poppy Arabella Chisholm is very smart and the best of your listed suggestions.
Poppy is already a flower/nature name and is bright in thought so I would be choosing a classic, traditional second name.

Does Granny Jeanette have a second name?
That could be suitable too. What is her mother's name?

Ideas ..
Poppy Elspeth
Poppy Allegra
Poppy Catherine
Poppy Matilda
Poppy Elizabeth
Poppy Eleanor

Moonchild5 · 06/07/2023 02:21

Her name was Christina which is nice but would want someone’s name I was close with. My gran helped raise me etc.

I would say Jean or something like that- one syllable.

user1471447924 · 06/07/2023 03:23

Poppy Jean is lovely

mathanxiety · 06/07/2023 03:25

Poppy Jeanette would be lovely.

Poppy Arabella Jean would be lovely too if you decided to use two middle names.

Suggestions:
Poppy Elizabeth
Poppy Eloise
Poppy Christiana

LoonyLois · 06/07/2023 03:30

I think Poppy Jeanette sounds nicer than Poppy Jean, Poppy Arabella has a lovely ring to it.

Just my opinion, it flows nicer with a longer middle name
Poppy Elizabeth
Catherine
Jessica
Emeline

Britintheusa · 06/07/2023 03:50

Poppy Arabella is stunning!! Sweet, sassy and elegant all together.
Would you consider a hyphenated middle? Poppy Arabella-Jean would be amazing 😍
My rainbow girl is Eliana, meaning God has answered. Poppy Eliana? (Obvs I'm biased)

CapEBarra · 06/07/2023 03:59

My sister and I have our grandmothers’ names as middle names. Id go with Poppy Jeanette. It’s nice and better going with a name for the sake of it.

Soozikinzii · 06/07/2023 05:33

My niece is called Poppy Eugenie which is nice xx

Moonchild5 · 06/07/2023 05:39

I didn’t think poppy Jeanette sounded great does it go okay? I obsess over syllable count etc ever since I looked up names when pregnant so would be 2-2-2 which isn’t meant to sound great

HuntingoftheSnark · 06/07/2023 06:28

Poppy Jeanette is lovely and 2-2-2 sounds good to me. It's also meaningful which is nicer than a random middle name in many ways. I know a Poppy Tallulah which I think is cute.

ThunderSnacks · 06/07/2023 06:35

Congratulations! Another vote for Poppy Jean from me.

Alternatively, Poppy Iris? Iris means rainbow in Greek.

DuchessOfSausage · 06/07/2023 07:34

Congratulations! Poppy is lovely.
Poppy Rose/Willow/Blossom/Iris etc is too flowery
Poppy Jeanette or Poppy Arabella are nice but there was an Arabella-Poppy in the news not that long ago.
Poppy Jean now reminds me of Billie Jean.

Arabella-Jean as a middle name is too much and hyphens aren't great.
I'd go with Poppy Jeanette, or Poppy Jeannette (Jeanne-ette as opposed to Jean-ette)
