I think Melissa is lovely. Elizabeth (either spelling) is a good name with the potential for lots of nicknames to chose from.
I don’t like Hazel at all I’m afraid.

Prize for absolute rudeness, ignorance and inability to comprehend that other cultures exist goes to this comment.

Elisabeth IS a proper spelling!

Louis XVI's sister was Elisabeth with an S.

So it is a conventional spelling, not a unique creative bogan one.

KayEmAy · 03/07/2023 19:13

They are in my order of preference :)

Jellylover · 03/07/2023 19:16

Hazel

OhLola04 · 03/07/2023 19:21

Definitely not Hazel, it's a serious headmistress type of name, frumpy. Melissa used to be my favourite name when I was 7 years old, I don't like it now however. Out of those 3 Elisabeth is the nicest.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/07/2023 19:22

Melissa

Melissa

Hazel is lovely but Elizabeth (thus spelling) is so versatile and a timeless classic.

Cas112 · 03/07/2023 19:44

Hazel

Whichwhatnow · 03/07/2023 19:53

I like Elisabeth best. Hazel is quite nice too though not really my taste.

Not Melissa. The full name sounds too fussy and prim somehow and I really don't like 'Mel' as a shortening.

SpringIntoChaos · 03/07/2023 20:33

Hazel is awful!

Melissa is 'meh' 🤷‍♀️ but a bit old fashioned and dull! (and as someone has pointed out, in school will get 'smelly melly' - I know this as my sister was plagued with this unfortunate nickname all her school days!! 😳)

EliZabeth is lovely ('z') 👍

ladygindiva · 03/07/2023 20:40

Elisabeth

ladygindiva · 03/07/2023 20:43

Can I throw in " Lyssa" as a suggestion. I love that name. Or even Elyssa/Elissa, makes a change from the overused Eliza or Elizabeth and is a bit like Melissa.

MissingMoominMamma · 03/07/2023 20:47

I really dislike Hazel, but I don’t know why.

Out of the three, Elizabeth.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 03/07/2023 22:57

With Samuel and Rose, definitely Elisabeth of the three - it's a more of a timeless classic like your other children's names. Not that big a deal to have to say "Elisabeth with a S" if that spelling will reflect her heritage (with a Z would be the UK assumption).

Second choice would be Hazel as it shares the botanical theme with Rose, but has the same ending as Samuel, so sounds nice as a sibset if that matters . But it is much less timeless - Hazel is coming back into fashion now, but it was previously fairly 50's/60's. Equally Melissa feels a bit dated to the 80'/90's.

Nofreshstarthere22 · 03/07/2023 22:58

Elisabeth. I don’t like the others at all sorry.

Honeyroar · 04/07/2023 00:29

Hazel
or Melissa at a push
Not Elizabeth, I know soooo many

mommacots · 04/07/2023 00:31

Elisabeth by a country mile

HonoriaLucastaDelagardie · 04/07/2023 00:39

Elisabeth/Elizabeth. Classic and dignified, with so many different short forms for her to choose from as she grows up.

I don't dislike the other two, but I love Elizabeth.

ashitghost · 04/07/2023 03:51

Elisabeth

the other two are awful.

seahorsesandmermaids · 04/07/2023 17:21

I love Elisabeth spelt with an S.
My mum's middle name.

lieselotte · 04/07/2023 17:35

Eliz(s)abeth - loads you can do with it - full name, Beth, Lizzie - so many options

Newnamenewname109870 · 04/07/2023 18:40

Hazel by a mile

Newnamenewname109870 · 04/07/2023 18:41

Elisabeth with an s or z feels so boring! Don’t like sound of Melissa.

RainbowFish4 · 04/07/2023 18:41
