  1. I think Melissa is beautiful. It was popular in the 80s and 90s though, so you will get the usual unimaginative people saying 'dated'.
  1. Elisabeth is nice, very classic with lots of choice of short forms. With the S instead of Z it is the normal spelling in most European countries of course.
  1. Hazel, not particularly keen on it. Nothing wrong with it, it's a recognisable nature name, but it strangely gives me a slightly frumpy vibe, as stated by a pp. I do like Heather though, which is similar.

Hazel

Hazel

Hazel - pretty and unusual but not so uncommon people will struggle with it.

mathanxiety · 03/07/2023 03:56

Elisabeth (with the S) and Hazel equally.

Not keen on Melissa.

TheCyclingGorilla · 03/07/2023 05:43

Elizabeth, like the two Queens, followed by Hazel.

I associate Melissa with the mean girl bully at school. Sad

Flidina · 03/07/2023 05:48

Elisabeth is the nicest name. Hazel sounds very old fashioned and dated, not keen on Melissa.

HuntingoftheSnark · 03/07/2023 05:58

Definitely Elizabeth. It goes beautifully with Rose and Samuel. Not keen on the others.

squidgem · 03/07/2023 06:04

Hazel

kaiyaangel · 03/07/2023 06:54

Melissa

DonoghueVsStevenson · 03/07/2023 08:47

Melissa is my favourite of the 3 but Elisabeth possibly sits better with Samuel & Rose if that matters to you.

Ignore the noise about spelling Elisabeth with a z, it's really not necessary as Elisabeth is a perfectly well known alternative and it's no different to Anne/Ann or Clare/Claire or Jane/Jayne - sometimes it will be spelled the wrong way but really no big deal.

OopsieeDaisy · 03/07/2023 09:16

I really like Melissa, you don’t hear of too many - it’s lovely.

Not a huge fan of Elisabeth or Hazel but I think any of the three work with your other children’s names.

clpsmum · 03/07/2023 09:37

Elizabeth but spelled properly

Growlybear83 · 03/07/2023 09:38

I like all three but prefer Hazel and Elizabeth.

CurlewKate · 03/07/2023 09:45

Elisabeth because there are so many good shortenings.

Tosire · 03/07/2023 09:48

Elizabeth / Elisabeth - beautiful, don't think the spelling matters

Hazel - nice

Melissa - no.

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/07/2023 10:50

I would choose Melissa

I like Elisabeth too though

Not so keen on Hazel

MovingBird123 · 03/07/2023 11:50

I like the plant and honey associations of Melissa, but Hazel is my favourite.

WaltzingWaters · 03/07/2023 11:55

Elizabeth. I prefer it with the Z but if it’s more traditional in your culture, the S will make it a little different and bring a bit of your culture to the name.

I think that sounds the best with Samuel and Rose also.

Dalekjastninerels · 03/07/2023 11:57

1)Elisabeth or Elizabeth
2) Melissa
3)Hazel

Dacadactyl · 02/07/2023 22:29

Elisabeth, but not sure why it's with an S. I'd just go for Elizabeth.

Ditto

Elizabeth but spelled properly

Prize for absolute rudeness, ignorance and inability to comprehend that other cultures exist goes to this comment.

Elisabeth IS a proper spelling!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 03/07/2023 13:29

Hazel 100%

EmmaOvary · 03/07/2023 13:33

I love Hazel

marshmallowfinder · 03/07/2023 13:39

Hazel.
