I’ve seen on mumsnet before that it’s a really popular name. I only know of one that’s a girl atm (and I’m thinking for a boy). Do you know many?

I would say it's a boys name and think it's quite nice. I don't know any others x

smalbert · 29/06/2023 22:00

I teach a girl Rowan

Whatisityoucantface · 29/06/2023 22:01

I know two (baby) boys called Rowen. In my mind it’s a surname, as I’ve a good friend with this surname

Whatisityoucantface · 29/06/2023 22:01

*Rowan

Anaemiafog · 29/06/2023 22:04

I know three boys under five and a fifty year old man.

garfieldeatscake · 29/06/2023 22:12

I know a Rohan and three Rowan. Ages range from 0-16. All lovely.

Awumminnscotland · 29/06/2023 22:20

Yes we have a wee boy Rowan in the family and I know of one other in the school, a girl. I think it's definitely hit the radar of current names.

HessianBlanket · 29/06/2023 22:22

I know a 20 Yr old male and 11 year old female.

ChickenMacaroni · 29/06/2023 22:24

I know (of) two, a 45 year old woman and a 6 year old boy

shoopshoopdedoo · 29/06/2023 22:27

I know two, one 40ish and one baby, both female

ChildrenOfRuin · 29/06/2023 22:32

Rowan’s been getting more popular. It was ranked 63rd for boys in England and Wales in 2021, so top 100 but that’s not what I’d call really popular.
It’s a lot less popular for girls.

DS1 is Rowan, he's 19. I think it's a lovely name (obviously!).

TempsPerdu · 29/06/2023 22:53

For boys it’s fairly popular at the moment; for girls much less so (somewhere in the 400s and falling I believe?)

Funnily enough though I only know female Rowans - it’s one of DD’s middle names (was very nearly her first), and I know two girl toddler Rowans.

WotNoUserName · 29/06/2023 22:53

The Rowans I know are a teenage boy, a teenage girl and a 5 year old girl, and a friend of a friend, middle aged woman.

It's a lovely name, and a definite unisex name.

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/06/2023 22:58

I know two female Rowans. 14 and 52.
Lovely name

CC4712 · 29/06/2023 23:01

uncomfortablydumb53 · 29/06/2023 23:44

Verite1 · 30/06/2023 00:30

Vexxa · 30/06/2023 07:30

I know 3, two toddler boys and a man in his 20s.

CastleTower · 30/06/2023 07:45

I have a baby one. We've come across another baby Rowan locally, who is a girl. Don't know any others.

CastleTower · 30/06/2023 07:55

We've met a few babies called Rory at groups and things - glad we didn't use it, as it was also on our list!

Jellylover · 30/06/2023 08:00

Ah it’s my most favourite name. I prefer the spelling Rohan. DD2 was going to be called it but DH and i couldn’t agree.

PickledScrump · 30/06/2023 08:03

I know one male rowan in mid 20s, several toddlers both male and female. Also know children called Rohan, Ronan, Ronin, Rowan, Roman. Which makes those sorts of names all sound more popular.

AnotherDayAnotherUsernameForMeAgain · 30/06/2023 08:05

Two at DD’s primary school (11 and 6ish) and our next door neighbour just named their newborn son Rowan too.

Iwouldliketogotosweden · 30/06/2023 08:08

I know 2 boys under one and one boy who is about 8. It’s a lovely name!
