Hi, my grandfathers name could be shortened to the pronunciation, /si:/ (or 'c' or see or sea etc) and we would like to honour him by naming our son after him. while we may end up using his name, we would like to also see alternatives as well, as his name is perhaps a bit old fashioned.

Thanks for your help.

Surely any name starting with "c" could be shortened that way?

I have a friend called Christopher that we call C.

Simeon

Because the first part of the name sounds like see (see me on) and it also has the Si part of it.
