Boy or girl or truly unisex?

I love Frank but feel too harsh for a newborn baby and I know Francis is well liked on here but I do not like it personally so not an option and I dislike Franklin even more.

Frankie is a girl to me,but that's just because of Frankie from the Saturdays!

I know a baby girl frankie and I know a grown man Frank

Twizbe · 26/06/2023 18:29

Girls name.

besides, Frank won’t be a baby for long. He will be a grown man for much longer.

bb192 · 26/06/2023 18:37

I know a boy Frankie and two girls Frankie
I think it's like an Alex, could be either

MerryChristmasToYou · 26/06/2023 20:15

There have been several similar threads recently.
I'd think Frankie was a girl too.

OopsieeDaisy · 26/06/2023 22:22

I think it’s completely unisex and I like it for either a boy or a girl.

WhatTheFlipToDo · 26/06/2023 23:02

My friend’s DS is ‘just’ Frank but we have all called him Frankie since birth. He’s a lovely chap.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 26/06/2023 23:16

I know a girl Frankie and a boy Frankie (and a Frank) and it suits both so it's totally unisex to me. I think I marginally prefer it for a girl but I like it for either.

continentallentil · 26/06/2023 23:21

Not as a full name for either - find something else

PrimrosesandPears · 26/06/2023 23:21

I think of it as unisex but a nickname - I’d expect it to be short for Frances / Francesca or Francis / Frank. I like it for both sexes and all these names!

honeyy123 · 26/06/2023 23:24

I named my baby boy Marley but spelt "Marli" and he gets called a girl all the time when the doctors ring they say "she" to me on the phone and I feel so rude correcting people for it but I can't just let people think my babas a girl this had nothing to do with the name franky but just be carful with what you pick unless you wanna be correcting for the rest of your life lol🤣🤣🤣

Mxflamingnoravera · 27/06/2023 07:22

Lovely name for either a boy or a girl. An older Frankie may shorten it to Frank or Franks (my F50 cousin is a Franks). It's family name for me, eldest child got Francis/Frances.

Judgyjudgy · 27/06/2023 07:23

Unisex but more girl. I love it for a girl

HouseofHolbein · 27/06/2023 07:40

My youngest is Francesca but on the odd occasion we shorten it she's Frankie.

Ok Frankie Fart Face tbh 🤣🤣 but don't recommend that for the birth certificate!

Also call her Frankenstein and at Christmas she is frankincense 🤣🤣 I used to get some funny looks at the school gate 🤣🤣

bobby81 · 27/06/2023 07:46

It's unisex to me

user1492757084 · 27/06/2023 10:38

I like Francois and Francis for boys and Francesca and Frances for girls.
Don't use a name that you don't love.
Otherwise Frankie is a nickname.

CallieQ · 27/06/2023 10:39

My friend Frances is known as Frankie

gettingoldisshit · 27/06/2023 11:50

Its a hideous girls name. Frank is the male equivalent.

fancyfrogs · 27/06/2023 11:55

I'd think girl

born2runaway · 27/06/2023 13:28

I know boys and girls with the name

Quite cute but bit chavvy

For girls, id go with francesca or frances it's classier

Pumpkinlady · 27/06/2023 19:28

Love for a boy, and in my mind it's more masc, but I wouldn't think it was a boy's name if I met a girl called Frankie, I'd assume it was short for Francesca tbh

Workawayxx · 27/06/2023 19:31

I’d call him frank nn Frankie and just see what suits him at the time - you can try out both. I have dc who have full names that get used a lot and then those close call them the nn version sometimes.

Workawayxx · 27/06/2023 19:32

I wouldn’t think it was masculine or feminine just on hearing Frankie.

Coffeeandcakemum · 27/06/2023 20:49

I'd say Frankie is a girls name

peaceinourtime · 29/06/2023 00:30

I don't understand the attraction for Frankie is a girls name/nick name. You could say its cute for a young child but I'm not sure that it will age with the child well.

Twizbe · 29/06/2023 09:43

The (female) Frankie I know is in her 70s…. It’s aged well with her…. She’s Frances officially though.
