Danny, for a baby boy? What do we think? The name has lots of personal meaning for both me and my partner.

I like it, but don't LOVE it, does it sound too old for a baby?

I love the name Daniel.
With one option to call him Danny, for short.

I think it is one of those names that isn't really of any particular era. There have been Daniel's in every generation.

PickledScrump · 24/06/2023 00:13

I think it’s fine for a nn for a baby but use Daniel as a full name.

TomatoSandwiches · 24/06/2023 00:13

Daniel nn Danny, sure.

Danny on the birth certificate no.

Moveoverdarlin · 24/06/2023 00:16

It feels quite dated. I would put Danny in the same bracket as Robbie, Gary, Kev, Tony and Scott.

Daniel is nice, classic.

salamithumbs · 24/06/2023 00:19

I really like it and don't think it sounds too old or dated! I would put Daniel on the birth cert though.

Barleysugar86 · 24/06/2023 00:21

I love Danny. Reminds me of Danny Champion of the World. I would also put Daniel on his birth certificate though, it's nice to leave him with options.

getfreddynow · 24/06/2023 00:22

Makes me think of Grease.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 24/06/2023 00:36

Gorgeous name - Daniel, Danny, Dan are all great

honeyy123 · 24/06/2023 00:46

Danny boy I do agree with past person it does sound abit old unless he's gonna have a middle name that just flows but if it has personal meaning that's all that matters

pippapipps · 24/06/2023 00:59

Love Daniel because I have a Daniel

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 24/06/2023 02:50

Great name

cassiatwenty · 24/06/2023 02:52

I like it

ProfessorXtra · 24/06/2023 05:12

Lovely name. I know a couple who are Danny on a birth certificate.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 24/06/2023 05:19

Such a lovely name.

VerbenaGirl · 24/06/2023 05:44

I like it.

Theoldwoman · 24/06/2023 05:50

Daniel is lovely. Not Danny alone though.

shoopshoopdedoo · 24/06/2023 06:03

Love it! As other have said, I’d also use Daniel and have Danny as a nickname.

Oldermum84 · 24/06/2023 07:03

Love it. Don't feel pressured into Daniel of you prefer and are going to call him Danny.

Stygimoloch · 24/06/2023 07:44

Love Daniel, Dan, Danny. Timeless.

There’s nothing wrong with putting Danny on birth certificate if that’s going to be his name. It’s lovely.

sakuramiyagi · 24/06/2023 07:55

My little boy is Daniel on his birth certificate. But we have always called him Danny (named after my Papa Danny), the name is very special to my family.

I don't think it sounds like an old name at all. Using Daniel on his birth cert was deliberate to give him options in later life.

Figgygal · 24/06/2023 07:58

I have a Daniel on paper hes been called Danny since day 1 though.
He can choose any variation of Daniel, Dan, Danny when he's older up to him

gogomoto · 24/06/2023 08:01

Daniel is far better. My cousins kid is called Danny, he hates he has a silly proper name and goes by Dan.

KirstenBlest · 24/06/2023 10:27

Dan is a biblical name, as is Daniel. I'd put Daniel on the BC.
Dan, Danny and Daniel are all fine.

IsThePopeCatholic · 24/06/2023 10:34

Love Daniel. But Danny only as a nn.
