Asking for a friend. Unfortunately it isn't for me.

She likes unusual names and Crew and Cruise are on the list but any other suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

Murphy is Irish origin, related to the sea (usually a surname but I'm just throwing it out there)

I was on a course with a Nemo - not sure if it was a nickname.

I suspect it was a name long before it was a Disney character Hmm

QueSyrahSyrah · 22/06/2023 23:09

I know both a Sailor and an Ocean in very nautical families. Both feel a bit cheesy to me though 😬

I think River, Finn and Caspian are the only obvious/useable boys ones , maybe Leith too? (although that one might only be obvious if you're Scottish).

Yes there are "sea/water" meaning names like Adrian, Dylan, Morgan etc but most people wouldn't immediately think nautical on hearing them if that matters to your friend.

Uffa, after a very famous and well regarded sailor ? There aren't many Uffa's around I shouldn't think.

I wonder if you live near me?! I know of a young one ( strong sailing heritage around here!)

You can add nautical flavour to any name by making their middle name, Overboard.
