I keep coming back to the name Everett. I know it was in the top hundred in the 1900s in the states but has never been popular here but it just has a certain appeal to me.

What are your thoughts? Do you know any? What impression does it give you?

Kenny Everett deceased DJ, comedian and performer.

Chris Everett, female tennis player.

Just a last name really.

DogInATent · 12/06/2023 18:10

It's in the best possible taste...

Definitely more of a last name when it is used I think. Everard sometimes used as a first name, but with scope for serious grief to the poor child so lumbered 😂

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2023 18:31

I know a Dutch guy called Evert.

It's a name of Germanic / Old English origins meaning “strength or courage of a wild boar". It's therefore not originally a surname.

So it's not out there to me.

Stressyfab · 12/06/2023 18:39

I quite like it!

Crimblecrumble1990 · 12/06/2023 18:43

Yes it's a last name blah blah, plenty of posters along in a minute to tell you how awful it is I'm sure as that's how these threads go...

But I quite like it! Not sure if I would have been brave enough to use it but definitely heard names of a similar ilk in the playground and no-one bats an eyelid after they've heard it once.

Chris Evert I think?

Pemba · 12/06/2023 19:00

You are quite right! I always used to think it was Chris Everett, I was wrong though as it turns out.

DuchessOfSausage · 12/06/2023 19:28

Kenny Everett.
The tennis player was Evert

Nice name, and it feels 'familiar', maybe because it's similar in some ways to Emmett and Elliott.

@DogInATent we may be showing our age 😆

TheMurderousGoose · 12/06/2023 20:23

Reminds me of the 90s music journo Everett True. That might be a bit niche.

I don't hate the name.

Agreed. It's 'on trend'. There's a huge amount of E boy names that are popular right now. Not to mention the ubiquitous Eve / Eva / Evelyn girl clones.

But that does make it a choice that's doable for a boy imho. It won't stand out as odd. It's of the time without being cliche. It should date quite as badly as some other options. But it is unusual.

RoseBucket · 12/06/2023 21:04

My daughter knows a 16 year old Everett. The name seems pretty well liked amongst the peers. I quite like it too.

continentallentil · 12/06/2023 21:08

Batteries

But other than that there are so many girls Ev names about I wouldn’t because it’s go so dull

WildCherryBlossom · 12/06/2023 22:01

Nobody mentioning Rupert Everett?

shadowchancesassy · 12/06/2023 22:05

I like it, I know one he's in his 30s

peaceinourtime · 15/06/2023 03:22

Its nice, I know of one who is five.

Dazedandbemused0 · 15/06/2023 14:34

love it!

Simianwalk · 15/06/2023 14:36

Obviously Kenny (comedian and Tory) but actually quite like it.
