Juliet Allaway and Luke Allaway are great names and go well
2nd choices Beatrice and Nathaniel

It’s hard to match for sure - nothing ending in A will work, Y ends can also be a mouthful if they aren’t simple.. Allaway is a mouthful so I think you need something simple

Lois
Katharine nn Kate
Frances
Edith
Charlotte
Jane
Lucy
Grace

Laurence
Benjamin / Benedict nn Ben
Thomas nn Tom
Samuel nn Sam
Francis nn Frank … all those names

Or short names like Guy, Jude, James

Paloma - I love it but is a mouthful
Maeve - it goes well I just don’t like it
Juliet - great
Florence/Flora - Florence works but it’s a but twee
Juniper - this is just silly
Dove - ditto
Theodora - too too much with the surname
Dorothy - too much of a mouthful
Constance - it works but Connie doesn’t so I wouldn’t
Carmen - it’s Ok, if a bit odd
Kasia (pronounced Kasha) - no
Eleni no, massive mouthful
Stella - no
Cassia - no
Zoe - Ok
Faith - works, I just don’t like it - how about Hope or Grace ?
Rose - works really well but so overdone
Magdalena - way too much
Pearl - works, quite like it
Beatrix - works fine
Betsy (Full name Elizabeth - is it overdone?) - Eliz is a bit overdone but it’s lovely and Betsy is cute
Phoebe - it works Ok

Boys:
Isaac -mouthful
Luke - works well
Elias - massive mouthful
Nathaniel - works well
Casimir (pretentious?) - yes, but how about Cassian?

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/06/2023 00:31

The ones I like and also think work with your surname:

Maeve
Dorothy
Constance
Eleni - especially if a Greek connection
Zoe
Rose
Betsy - Elizabeth doesn’t seem overdone
Phoebe

Luke

cordelia16 · 13/06/2023 16:56

The problem with Luke and Isaac is that the -k ending sound flows into the beginning of the surname. So said aloud they sound like:

Loo Callaway
Iza Callaway

Nathaniel is too long - what about Daniel?

Guess I would pick Elias by default.

Franseen · 13/06/2023 17:03

Phoebe and Luke sound best

cordelia16 · 13/06/2023 17:03

For girls I like:

Carmen
Zoe
Beatrix
Betsy
Phoebe

And I like Juliet and Juniper - even though they are 3 syllables (like Nathaniel), they don't look as long so doesn't bother me as much.

Homeywomey · 13/06/2023 17:04

Maeve, Rose and Phoebe are my fav girls ones.

Homeywomey · 13/06/2023 17:06

Nathaniel is the only one I like of the boys but with the surname it’s a bit of a mouthful! Boys names are harder than girls.

ThatFraggle · 13/06/2023 17:06

I know a Kasia. So annoyed with her name being misspelt and mispronounced.

And I think the names ending in A sound fine with the surname.

Riverlee · 13/06/2023 17:06

You’ve listed Rose twice so I’m guessing that’s a favourite. Maybe Rosalind or Rosamund, nn Rose.

Like all the boys names except the last one. Maybe Caspian or Casper instead?

BeaKind · 13/06/2023 19:48

Absolutely LOVE Paloma! I actually think names that end in an a roll into your surname nicely! 😬

Also really like Magdalena and Constance.

Boys I like Elias.

bobby81 · 13/06/2023 20:26

Rose & Luke are my favourites from your lists.

user1492757084 · 14/06/2023 03:42

Inspired from your list, these sound attractive with Allaway ....
Phoebe
Rose
Faith
Zoe
Kasia
Cassia
Tea or Terese
Katya
Catherine

Luke
Claude
Christopher
Louis

tobee · 14/06/2023 03:45

Dorothy
Florence
Juliet

Isaac

toomanysausages · 14/06/2023 03:51

Paloma (lovely)
Juliet
Florence/Flora

Zoe
Faith
Rose
Rose
Beatrix (loved this for dd but have gone with original name choice)

Isaac
Elias (love the meaning)
Nathaniel (also love the meaning)

mathanxiety · 14/06/2023 04:56

I love:

Paloma
Dove
Stella
Beatrix

Isaac
Casimir - I don't know why you think this is 'pretentious'.

Willmafrockfit · 14/06/2023 05:42

Girls:
Paloma - not my favourite
Maeve ok
Juliet like it
Florence/Flora like florence
Juniper do like it
Dove no
Theodora yes
Dorothy yes, Dotty?
Constance yes, Connie?
Carmen not really
Kasia (pronounced Kasha) yes
Eleni yes
Stella no
Cassia yes
Zoe yes

Rose yes
Magdalena no
Pearl no
Beatrix not really, harry potter
Betsy (Full name Elizabeth - is it overdone?) yes
Phoebe not really

Boys:
Isaac yes
Luke ok
Elias not really
Nathaniel yes
Casimir (pretentious?) no

Doingmybest12 · 14/06/2023 05:48

I think Rose and Luke

FindingMeno · 14/06/2023 06:03

Magdalena and Nathaniel are my favourites.
I actually love the long name with a long surname. It has presence.

graygoose · 14/06/2023 06:14

I'm not going to help much because I actually really like all of the names you've chosen! Which is rare, we must have very similar tastes.

If it helps to narrow down, my faves are:

Girls:
Paloma (which I think means Dove, so you could still call her Dove as a nickname?)
Maeve
Florence/Flora
Dove (I really love this)
Constance
Stella
Pearl
Betsy (not overdone!)
Phoebe

Boys:
Isaac
Nathaniel
Casimir (not pretentious, love it)

If you have a boy and get Casimir I will be slightly jealous because it's a lovely name my DH would never ever consider. He balks at anything he perceives as too "middle class" ignoring the fact that he is firmly middle class and all of our friends have named their kids along a similar vein. Sigh.

Bubblyb00b · 14/06/2023 08:39

Girls:
Paloma only if you are Spanish
Maeve cute
Juliet nope
Florence/Flora sounds like floor
Juniper really cute
Dove from above
Theodora a girl called Theo?...
Dorothy - Wizard of Oz, nope
Constance I guess fine, a bit old fashioned
Carmen no bloody way )))
Kasia (pronounced Kasha) -Polish name I find really funny as it means "porridge" in russian/ Ukrainian ))))
Eleni - cute, my fav
Stella
Cassia - strange name
Zoe - ok but boring, too many
Faith nice but a bit religious?...
Rose
Magdalena - like from the Bible? I like Maggie and Magda
Pearl - cute but I think its a common surname, too
Beatrix lovely name
Betsy (Full name Elizabeth - is it overdone?) I like Elizabeth and Eliza
Phoebe from Friends? ok ))

Boys:
Isaac - ok way too many of them tbh
Luke - a bit boring?
Elias
Nathaniel
Casimir (pretentious?) never seen its spelled like this. only know of Kazimir Malevich

Leapintothelightning · 14/06/2023 09:54

My opinions:

Paloma Allaway - I don't think it flows with the surname, too many A sounds
Maeve - trendy and overdone
Juliet - no
Florence/Flora - Florence is lovely but Flora doesn't work with the surname
Juniper - too many syllables for my liking 😂
Dove - actually surprised I really like this!
Theodora - too many syllables and doesn't flow with the surname
Dorothy - the -y sound matching the surname isn't great
Constance - no
Carmen - favourite so far
Kasia (pronounced Kasha) - too many A sounds, would probably have spelling/pronunciation issues
Eleni - too many L sounds
Stella - almost a tongue twister with the Ls and As
Cassia - Cassie Allaway flows slightly better
Zoe - think this works well
Faith - no
Rose - lovely
Magdalena - too many As and syllables
Pearl - doesn't work with the surname
Beatrix - like
Betsy (Full name Elizabeth) - wouldn't say it's overdone as it is a classic but Elizabeth Allaway is too much of a mouthful and Betsy Allaway doesn't really work
Phoebe - like this too

Boys:
Isaac - too many As
Luke - works well but very popular
Elias - no
Nathaniel - doesn't work for me, what about Nathan?
Casimir - too many syllables, probably would have spelling/pronunciation issues.

to sum up:
Names ending in -a or -y don't work great
Names with too many syllables don't work with the surname

Favourites:
Dove
Carmen
Zoe
Rose
Beatrix
Phoebe

Luke
Nathan

Crunchymum · 14/06/2023 16:42
