Elowen yes or no? Not for a child but an adult. My sister is very nature, Wicca type person and is drawn to the name, I think it means Elm tree in Cornish

Pronounced El-Owen not EloWyn (though the latter pronunciation I think is lovely apparently it’s not right;

I like Lowen but my sister says too much like a beer name. :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think it is a lovely name ☺️

I’m not a fan, but them almost all liquid consonant sounding names, especially those staring with El- sound so bland and generic to me.

dammiejodger · 08/06/2023 11:18

Struggling to see the difference between your two pronunciations?

I personally am not a fan.

FayCarew · 08/06/2023 11:36

@dammiejodger , one is like L. Owen and the other is like Ello N.
Like Eleanor but not like Elisa

FayCarew · 08/06/2023 11:43

Lowenna is nicer.
The Ello-wen mispronunciation sounds a bit too much like Elwyn, a man's name

FatGirlSwim · 09/06/2023 09:02

I really love it and wish I’d used it

I love Elowen.
Also I like Lowenna, Louella and Ellen.

LeafyGreenSummer · 09/06/2023 09:34

So it’s your sister who is wanting to change her name as an adult?
I think Elowen is lovely.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 09/06/2023 09:36

It’s a lovely name
personally I would think it is too individual and noticeable for a name change as an adult though. If I needed or wanted to change my first name I would choose something relevant to my age and culture.
