Baby girl is due in the next couple of weeks, and names are still swirling around and favourites changing every couple of days..

For context she’s half-Irish and has an older sister called Indigo (Indi). We like flowing names, nature names (not absurd ones), names that can be shortened.. Can’t start with a hard C sound cos surname does.

Recently:

Alannah, probably known as Lana/Lanah

Amber, possible nickname Bea (from Bambi which is what I end up calling a little Amber we know)

Today’s newcomer, Eleni known as Leni (can’t have nn Ellie)

She was Jasmine for ages, originally an honour name for a friend but then we really liked it, now I think it’s a bit princessy (husband has no Aladdin connotations but I do!)

Also Rosie short for Róisín has been on the table, but again potentially a bit floral and just not ‘strong’ enough.

Opinions and suggestions gratefully received! Thank you :-)

Raven
Selene
Ashley
Bea

My advice is pick the name (and not the nickname).

I don't get Bea from Amber. Both Beatrix and Amber are good names.

I love Leni in its own right but Lena is a good name too.

Lyra is a bit popular now but it's a lovely name.

My current and absolute fave is Albertine. Adore it (not quite enough to have a 4th baby in the hope of using it though!!)

Aurora nn Rory

Yasmin instead of Jasmine

Zinnia or Zinnie

Zoë - has this been ruined by the covid/nutrition studies or still lovely? Indi and Zoë is sounding good (today!) :-)

My first thought was Willow which I’ve seen suggested by a few PPs. Indi and Willow go nicely together.

I also absolutely love River

I don't think Zoe has been ruined, I think its still good.

Babyname12345 · 09/06/2023 20:28

I don’t think Zoë has been ruined- it’s a great name and goes well with Indie

Babyname12345 · 09/06/2023 20:29

*Sorry Indi

Zimzimmaa · 09/06/2023 21:46

Solène is the French equivalent of Solenne (sounds the same when said). I've never heard of a Solenne tbh. I met a lovely Solène though

I can't get on with Sage. I want to, cause it sounds nice in English. But in French it sounds like saj. And it means wise.

Zimzimmaa · 09/06/2023 21:50

Apparently Solenne is also used in France... At least people will pronounce it correctly spelt that way. Great name.

I don't know the connection with zoe and covid/nutrition. Maybe I'm ill informed? 🤷‍♀️

I love Roisin (sorry, I don’t know how to do the accents on my phone) but I’d use Rosa as a short version. I think it’s stronger and I adore both versions.
