Baby girl is due in the next couple of weeks, and names are still swirling around and favourites changing every couple of days..

For context she’s half-Irish and has an older sister called Indigo (Indi). We like flowing names, nature names (not absurd ones), names that can be shortened.. Can’t start with a hard C sound cos surname does.

Recently:

Alannah, probably known as Lana/Lanah

Amber, possible nickname Bea (from Bambi which is what I end up calling a little Amber we know)

Today’s newcomer, Eleni known as Leni (can’t have nn Ellie)

She was Jasmine for ages, originally an honour name for a friend but then we really liked it, now I think it’s a bit princessy (husband has no Aladdin connotations but I do!)

Also Rosie short for Róisín has been on the table, but again potentially a bit floral and just not ‘strong’ enough.

Opinions and suggestions gratefully received! Thank you :-)

Róise was on my, "if I have a girl" list. Vetoed because everyone where I live would have said Rosie instead. Even now the autocorrect is trying to change it to that! Other names that might fit:

Hazel
Rowen
Pearl
Coral
Opal
Amethyst

I think the name Vivienne sounds strong, it also means 'alive', which is what nature is all about imo.

It could be 'softened', if wanted, with the nickname Vivie.

I agree with you re jasmine. It's a bit boring / fluffy compared to a lovely name Indigo!

If you have an Indigo then you probably should have a Violet. What about Lyra, or Linnaea, a type of honeysuckle, and you could shorten it to Lina - Indy and Lina sound cool!

ShandaLear · 07/06/2023 21:10

Sorry - shouldn’t have a Violet - it would would as though you were trying to procreate a rainbow!
