Just wondering (not for me, I can't stand the name) - just a general view of it.

lovely - do you like Elvis Costello?

HonorMatopoeia · 20/02/2008 22:56

I'd immediately shorten it to Ronnie, which just makes me think of Corbett!

mollymawk · 20/02/2008 22:56

It makes me think of:
a nun
saint with Jesus' face on her handkerchief
Elvis Costello

LadyOfWaffle · 20/02/2008 22:56

Errr... who?? (heard of him, but don't know him IYSWIM)

Shock
bluenosesaint · 20/02/2008 22:57

Don't like it. I envisage a foot-stamping bad-tempered girl ...

Tinker · 20/02/2008 22:58

Isn't it Madonna's confirmation name? That'd be enough to put me off.

LadyOfWaffle · 20/02/2008 22:58

YES blue, me too. Must be from The Saddle Club books of my yoof.

I had an Auntie Veronica. It's quite an old fashioned name IMO.

HonorMatopoeia · 20/02/2008 22:59

The short one from the two ronnies!

bookwormmum · 20/02/2008 23:00

Veronica is a flower isn't it?

I worked with a Veronica once and she was very young at heart. Oddly enough she was the mum of a girl I went to school with!! She was probably only about 20 years older t than me.

NoBiggy · 20/02/2008 23:01

There were 2 Veronicas lived near us when I was little, they'd both be approaching 70 now.

My cousin was married for a while to one (known as Vera), and I guess she'd be in her 60s too.

fingerwoman · 20/02/2008 23:01

I like it actually. hmm, I like it a lot.
will pop that on list for dc3

bookwormmum · 20/02/2008 23:02

here

Tinker · 20/02/2008 23:04

Are all Veras Veronicas? Hadn't made that connection before

bookwormmum · 20/02/2008 23:06

Now I don't like the name Vera. Veronica is quite pretty but it'd be bound to be shortened to 'Vee.

'

Flibbertyjibbet · 20/02/2008 23:12

That was our girl choice for DS1.
I went to school with a Veronica who was very exotic, and I thought it was cool that we called her 'ronnie'.
My grandma was called Vera but nothing to do with Veronica.

bookwormmum · 20/02/2008 23:14

Interesting that Veronica is the Latin form of Berenice. It sounds quite Biblical like that.

branflake81 · 21/02/2008 11:20

bluenosesaint - I think you're thinking of Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factury...

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/02/2008 11:43

mm, makes me think of Veronica wiping the face of Jesus ( Catholic childhood - from the Stations of the Cross)

marina · 21/02/2008 11:49

Ah, "Emmanuel, Veronica" MaryAnn

I think it is a very pretty name

EffiePerine · 21/02/2008 11:51

I like it, but then I like Elvis Costello

TsarChasm · 21/02/2008 11:51

I can't envisage the name on someone under 50 for some reason.

Veronique is softer and prettier imho.
