Just wondering (not for me, I can't stand the name) - just a general view of it.

lovely - do you like Elvis Costello?

I'd immediately shorten it to Ronnie, which just makes me think of Corbett!

It makes me think of:
a nun
saint with Jesus' face on her handkerchief
Elvis Costello

Don't like it. I envisage a foot-stamping bad-tempered girl ...

Isn't it Madonna's confirmation name? That'd be enough to put me off.

YES blue, me too. Must be from The Saddle Club books of my yoof.

I had an Auntie Veronica. It's quite an old fashioned name IMO.

The short one from the two ronnies!

Veronica is a flower isn't it?

I worked with a Veronica once and she was very young at heart. Oddly enough she was the mum of a girl I went to school with!! She was probably only about 20 years older t than me.

There were 2 Veronicas lived near us when I was little, they'd both be approaching 70 now.

My cousin was married for a while to one (known as Vera), and I guess she'd be in her 60s too.

Are all Veras Veronicas? Hadn't made that connection before

Now I don't like the name Vera. Veronica is quite pretty but it'd be bound to be shortened to 'Vee.

That was our girl choice for DS1.
I went to school with a Veronica who was very exotic, and I thought it was cool that we called her 'ronnie'.
My grandma was called Vera but nothing to do with Veronica.

Interesting that Veronica is the Latin form of Berenice. It sounds quite Biblical like that.

bluenosesaint - I think you're thinking of Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factury...

mm, makes me think of Veronica wiping the face of Jesus ( Catholic childhood - from the Stations of the Cross)

Report

marina · 21/02/2008 11:49

Ah, "Emmanuel, Veronica" MaryAnn

I think it is a very pretty name

Report

EffiePerine · 21/02/2008 11:51

I like it, but then I like Elvis Costello

TsarChasm · 21/02/2008 11:51

I can't envisage the name on someone under 50 for some reason.

Veronique is softer and prettier imho.
