Help!
We can’t agree! One of us likes Benjamin, other likes William. Mumsnet may well have casting decision it’s getting so hard!
Thank you in advance!

Both great names. (I know this is no help.)

Hellocatshome · 29/05/2023 19:51

Any other siblings? Or a middle name to help us choose?

Wildflowersinthemeadow · 29/05/2023 19:51

Benjamin Smile

Mushroo · 29/05/2023 19:54

Benjamin.

William is a bit meh (I also prefer Ben to Will)

Thesunwillcomeoutverysoon · 29/05/2023 19:54

Have you considered nn for both?
Ben
Benny
Benji
Will
Willie
Bill
Billy
Do some go better with surname?
No lie ds went to school with a William Bone. Willie Bone wasn't a fun name to go by..

Benjamin-
love, so many variations depending on age of the boy/man.
sounds lovely and distinguished!

HuntingoftheSnark · 29/05/2023 19:56

Another vote for Benjamin.

sherbertyellowteddy · 29/05/2023 19:56

William 🤍

Kanaloa · 29/05/2023 19:57

Both are really lovely. I would choose Benjamin just because I love Ben and I’ve looked after a lot of boys named William. But William is really nice too.

EverythingsCominUpMilhouse · 29/05/2023 19:59

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 29/05/2023 20:31

Benjamin William!

Yummyyummyinmytummy · 29/05/2023 21:38

William! William is quite royal, posh and bold while and Benjamin is just a little Ben, not Big Ben, just a small Ben... sorry it's a William for me!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/05/2023 21:48

Both very classic "can't go wrong" names - but it's William for me. Cooler choice of great namesakes (The Conqueror, Shakespeare, Wilberforce, et al) and wider variety of diminutives if wanted (Will, Billy, Liam). I doubt "Willie" would happen much these days.

I like Ben, but am less keen on the sound of the full Benjamin, where as I think both William and Will are nice.

FirstFallopians · 29/05/2023 21:53

Love both, both were in consideration for a while for DS.

We used William in the end- it’s a family name and just so many standup lads throughout history called William.

Unless you have an alliterative surname, you can’t go wrong with either (…but William just wins it for me!)

WhisperingAutistic · 29/05/2023 22:03

Use both
Benjamin William Surname

Justaponder · 29/05/2023 22:06

Benjamin. Serious soft spot for this name!
