Due baby girl soon.. the list changes regularly but think this is the top so far:

Lana
Poppy
Leila
Maeva
Una

Middle name will be Joy.

Any other suggestions for similar names (I clearly have a preference for an 'a' ending), or any thoughts on the above?

Ava, Evie, Lily, Lucy all nice names. There is a fab baby name app I found really useful

MerryChristmasToYou · 28/05/2023 13:19

Lana - a bit woolly.
Poppy - like
Leila - ok but there are lots of Lilys and Lilas/Lylas
Maeva - don't like it
Una - nice but might get Ewe-na not Oona, but quitee pretty

Joy's a bit of a 'one-syllable filler middle name' and might not suit everyone but it's ok

Mummytobe333 · 28/05/2023 14:06

I love Lana, Una & Maeva 💓

Spidey66 · 28/05/2023 14:08

I like Poppy and Leila from your list, not keen on the others, sorry.

Dakers · 28/05/2023 14:22

Poppy is the best! Maeva is very Made in Chelsea (coming from someone who absolutely loves Maeve as a name).

shoopshoopdedoo · 28/05/2023 14:24

Like them all! Una is my favourite. Joy is a lovely middle name too.

OopsieeDaisy · 28/05/2023 14:47

I like the name Lana but the backwards spelling of it puts me off! Poppy and Maeva are my favourites from your list, I also love the name Cara which has a similar sort of sound.

Buttercup2023 · 28/05/2023 15:08

Thank you everyone! Similar thoughts to me, I keep going back and forth with all of them!

Joy is definitely the middle name as it is after a family member.

I also love the name Maeve but our surname is just one syllable, so I thought Maeva makes the full name flow nicer than 3 single syllable names which feels a bit blunt.

Lana is my favourite thought I'm not able to unsee the backwards spelling now PP pointed it out! Second favourite would be Una. I don't really get Poppy at all, and Leila as too many variations out there.

Prairie21 · 28/05/2023 15:15

*though, not thought!

sandrene · 28/05/2023 15:18

My favourite is Leila but I'd spell it Layla.

Mumofgirls2017 · 28/05/2023 16:12

I like Maeva best. Other suggestions.

Lola
Lilah
Lena
Lyra
Ayla
Isla
Elva
Orla
Millie
Molly
Polly
Cora
Lucia
Lara
Clara
Theia
Bella
Mabel
callie
Connie
Hallie

ourflagmeansdeath · 28/05/2023 19:19

Lana - It's okay but the backwards spelling would bother me too much
Poppy - I love this, even if it is a bit cutesy
Leila - I wouldn't know how to pronounce it. Layla is nicer if that's how you want it pronounced?
Maeva - Beautiful
Una - Not keen on this at all

Maeva Joy is gorgeous.

I also like Lydia, Delilah and Isla

ICalledYouLastNightFromGlasgow · 28/05/2023 19:23

Maeva Joy ❤️
Una Joy also good but for some reason having One Joy as a name doesn't sit quite right and might cause sibling teasing!

fairycupcakes · 28/05/2023 19:45

I think Poppy Joy would be lovely!

suggestions based on liking a endings though:

Nora
Calla
Cora
Clara
Saskia
Sasha
Lena
Elena
Sara
Zara
Freya

MerryChristmasToYou · 28/05/2023 20:52

Poppy Joy sounds a bit like it could be slang for opiates

continentallentil · 28/05/2023 22:54

I love Oona, but I would spell it Oona/gh or you will get Yew-nuh

Stella
Aphra
Lois
Thora
Ida
Aster
Astra
Tara
Zoe
might be others

Lana - ok but too many Lena/Lara/Lola/Luna/Lyra names
Poppy - bit wet and with Joy it does sound like a porn name, or a drug
Leila - see Lana
Maeva - it’s OK
Una - love it

user1492757084 · 29/05/2023 06:10

Joy is adorable..

Lena Joy - Lay-nuh. I would spell like this. 9/10
Lila Joy - 9/10
Una Joy - 9/19 Una is pronounced Ewe-nuh
Leila Joy - 10/10 - Lay-luh

Matilda Joy
Cassia Joy
Sarah Joy
Scarlett Joy
Xanthe Joy
Anna Joy
Sibyl Joy

Snoopystick · 29/05/2023 06:14

I love Joy, would go with it as the first name.

rainydaysandtuesday · 29/05/2023 06:25

Why Maeva? Sounds silly

Maeve is classier

rainydaysandtuesday · 29/05/2023 06:27

Unless your surname is Pave then you can have a one syllable first name

peacelemon · 29/05/2023 06:53

Lana is fine

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 29/05/2023 06:56

Una is great
Lana no because of Anal
love Joy would you use it as her first name?
