Fallen in love with a polish baby name not sure whether I should use it because I'm not polish
the name is Andzelika
i also love Maya, Valentina, Sadie, Evelyn, Madeleine/Maddy , Ysabella, Faith, Alaina, .

I love Polish names and spellings especially Zosia and Zofia.

They are pretty names, @WGACA . Is Zofia ZOFE-ya or ZOFF-ee-a? I'm guessing that Zosia is Zo-sha

Zofia = your first pronunciation. I think Zosia (Zosha is the Polish Sophie.

I showed this thread to my friend and she said in Poland Andzelika spelt like this is being joked about a lot. In a sense that "your parents didn't know how to spell 'Angelica' so changed the original spelling to at least make it sound like the original name'. Dunno, I wouldn't use it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'd go for Angelica.

Yep, as I thought. So same name but with a different accent. Like Marie in England vs Marie in France.

You might think of the z as a modifying letter which changes how the previous letter(s) is pronounced, in a similar way to h in English (so ch, ph, sh, th are different from c, p, s, t).

The Anjeleeka name needs to be written as Andżelika otherwise it is Andzeleeka, I think

My daughter has a Welsh name and I get asked all the time if I'm Welsh. And been called a liar because I don't sound Welsh. I am Welsh and have a Welsh name. It gets very tiring... it's not something I'd really considered before but now I wouldn't use a name unless I had connections there

Thanks, @DrinkFeckArseGirls , maybe i should ask her, I thought it couldn't be Alicja because everyone calls her Aleesha . I think it might be that she accepts Aleesha.
Thinking about it, I don't recall her saying her own name.

@ymemanresu, @DrinkFeckArseGirls , she is Alicja. Everyone says Aleesha, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be correcting people on the spelling and pronunciation.

Hmm tricky. I’d say use Angelica if you’re British. For example I absolutely adore the name Indira but we’re white-British and it just wouldn’t seem right to use it. To each their own though x
