Hello,

We are struggling to decide on a boy's name. I like old-fashioned baby names...but they have to feel fresh and not too old-man if you know what I mean.

Big sister is called Agnes. Which one of these baby boy names do you think go with her name?

Otto
August
Edmund (Eddie)
Rufus
Bernhard (Barney)
Timothy (Timo)
^^

Hi there!

I absolutely love Otto and think it sounds lovely with Agnes. Arthur is also great too and may suit the vibe you're looking for?

Best of luck picking a name Smile

Agnes and Walter.

Otto is lovely and works well with Agnes.
I quite like Wifred too.

carparkcow · 25/05/2023 12:57

I think Otto is nice with Agnes. Eric is my fave old fashioned name and would work well too

Mumofgirls2017 · 25/05/2023 13:03

Rufus or Otto

MerryChristmasToYou · 25/05/2023 13:17

Otto - awful
August - don't know how to say it, don't like matching initials
Edmund (Eddie) - ok, also like Edwin and Edgar
Rufus - not sure
Bernhard (Barney) - Bernard is better but Barnaby is great
Timothy (Timo) - Timothy is nice. Timo - Teemo or Timmo?

CountessBathorysBeautySecrets · 25/05/2023 13:20

Otto - I just picture a tiny baby that looks like Bismarck. Not keen.
August - I quite like this one although have a feeling it's become a bit trendy, if that bothers you
Edmund (Eddie) - I like this one. Much prefer Eddie to all the Teddies going about these days
Rufus - I do think of it as a dog's name. Although Rufus Wainwright has managed well,
Bernhard (Barney) - oh no, don't like this at all
Timothy (Timo) - another big nope. such a weedy name.

CountessBathorysBeautySecrets · 25/05/2023 13:23

I'll throw Victor, Douglas, Julian and Leonard into the mix.

Petal7 · 25/05/2023 13:26

Ned
Peter
Nicholas (Nico)
Christopher (Kit)

Thank you! - really like Edgar too!! Adding it to my list.
August is pronounced like the month I think, but agree, I don't like matching initials either...
"Timo" would be "Teemo" I think.
Thanks!

Otto von Bismarck :D
Thanks for your feedback! I think you're right about August becoming a bit trendy, otherwise I like the sound of it, but I'm still not sure...

Conrad/Konrad

threecupsofteaminimum · 25/05/2023 14:41

Bernard,I love Barney! I really dislike Otto, sorry

threecupsofteaminimum · 25/05/2023 14:43

When he's older it'll be blotto Otto, you know it Grin

MerryChristmasToYou · 25/05/2023 15:00

I like Conrad. I would have suggested Angus instead of August, but it's too similar to Agnes for siblings.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/05/2023 15:09

Agnes and Otto sound lovely together

Gowlett · 25/05/2023 15:10

Peter
Simon

WouldYouLikeACrabPuff · 25/05/2023 15:36

Sydney/Sidney
Wilfred
Cecil

mathanxiety · 25/05/2023 16:29

They're all OK apart from Bernhard. I'd avoid any names with 'hard' in them.

Suggestion:
Clement
Richard
Ambrose
Ivo

Newnamenewname109870 · 25/05/2023 16:35

Please not Timmo! The others are nice.

RuthW · 25/05/2023 18:06

None of those are old fashioned to me.

How about
Gary
Kevin
Brendan
Mark
Trevor

ChiChaNaYubi · 25/05/2023 18:09

I love old poncey names. If I was braver I would have had:

Victor
Edgar
Ambrose
Lysander
