People often mention it on here as a suggestion but is it too boring and middle aged?

Not a fan of Julie or Jules, but Julia itself is lovely and I absolutely LOVE the name Juliet

marshmallowmatcha · 20/05/2023 21:13

NugsNotDrugs · 20/05/2023 21:17

Yes! It is a beautiful name.

Legoninjago1 · 20/05/2023 21:18

Yes! I know 2 little Julias and I think it's lovely.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/05/2023 21:59

Did it ever really get popular enough to need a "revival"? I'm a Julia and feel quite lucky about it- I've usually been the only one in school/work but everyone knows how to say and spell it (possibly as it's used in the Bible and in Shakespeare as well as in lots of classic novels and songs.)

As far as I know it's rarely been in the UK top 100 even though it's considered "classic" - I'm UK born but most of the other Julia's I've met have been different ages and nationalities to me (it seems much more popular internationally).

I do love Juliet too though - it has spelling and pronunciation issues compared to Julia and maybe not quite as classic or internationally well used but has a lovely romantic, ethereal feel I think.

ourflagmeansdeath · 20/05/2023 22:05

I think it's super pretty, so yes!

fairycupcakes · 20/05/2023 22:41

I know a little Julia, it’s a beautiful name as it’s Juliet like another PP said x

fairycupcakes · 20/05/2023 22:41

as is*

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 20/05/2023 22:45

Love it.

mastertomsmum · 20/05/2023 22:49

I like it 👍🏼I don’t feel the same about Julie though, too much the 60s era. It’s much prettier than the ‘old ladies from my childhood in the 1970s’ names that have been a thing recently - ie Enid, Alma, Esme, Flo, Vera

user1492757084 · 21/05/2023 06:34

Julia is strong, feminine and sounds great with many other names.

Willmafrockfit · 21/05/2023 07:01

i think its lovely

Squirrelsnut · 21/05/2023 07:02

It's beautiful. Elegant and not cutesy.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 21/05/2023 07:17

Like another pp said I’m not sure it was ever popular enough to need a revival. It’s not dated or tied to a decade. I don’t know about rest of the UK but in Scotland the year with the highest number Julia in the last 50 years was in 2011 so reasonable recently.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 21/05/2023 07:51

I marginally prefer Julie but Julia is beautiful too.

I know a few of different ages, it doesn't really seem to date.

Camillasfagwrinkles · 21/05/2023 08:02

Beautiful with a one syllable surname like 'Scott' for example. Too much with a multi syllable surname.

tatteddear · 21/05/2023 08:08

Love it

Amdone123 · 21/05/2023 08:11

I love it, too.
I especially like the way it's spelt in Italian - Giulia.
Juliet is lovely too.
