Hey all,

What do you think of the name Evangelo for a baby boy, possibly shortened down to Angelo or keeping it as a long name.

We are not coming from the Uk but we live here for many years and we intend to continue living in the Uk.

I think it’s cute! He would probably get Evan as a nn so depends on if you like that.

pjani · 18/05/2023 10:58

Have you spelt it correctly, are there definitely two ls? Evangelo I understand but Evanglelo seems... unexpected. It's the 'lelo' bit.

Evanglelo, sorry! My mistake…

I can’t even type correctly my potential boy’s name 😄 Imagine others….

How is Evan pronounced in the uk?

Is it Eee - van or Eh - van?

It’s fine I think, I assume it’s a name from your home culture.

Pick an easier-to-type name

Eh-van. He wouldn't get Evan imo unless you gave him the nickname as it isn't a different sort of sound to the full name where you have the 'j' noise added too. Evan's a nice nickname anyway though.

I like Evangelo actually, it's nice and unique. Would be hard to spell though.

Evangelo is nice - Evan or Gelo or Van
Handsome choice.

Saschka · 19/05/2023 07:29

I work with an Evangelos, shortened to Evan. Nobody has a problem pronouncing either version of his name.

bellsandwhistles333 · 19/05/2023 07:36

I love Angelo I would stick with that as wouldn't want the evan name to become the main used name by friends etc

Soozikinzii · 19/05/2023 08:13

I think Evangelo is lovely and allows him a nice choice of strong nnames as he gets older.

MsGrumpytrousers · 19/05/2023 19:25

Evangelo possibly. Evanglelo definitely not. Too confusing.

Valhalla17 · 19/05/2023 19:29

You've typed it wrong twice.

Just go with Angelo!

Joystir59 · 19/05/2023 19:35

Angelo is lovely. Evangelo ok

peaceinourtime · 03/12/2023 14:48

I like the name Angelo but I think Evangelo is probably a better choice.

Bananaalarm · 04/12/2023 11:35

Evangelos is a lovely name and I prefer it to Angelos, which is a lot to live up to! I prefer the nickname Van to Evan though. I don’t find the British pronunciation of Evan a natural shortening because of the different way the sounds are stressed. My son has a similarly long Greek name and it’s rarely shortened.

I don't like it at all. Sounds a bit soft to mean. For a boy.
