Issac James came to mind.

But as you have a Reuben James I'd say Issac John.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/05/2023 21:15

Harvey Michael sprang instantly to mind

I like Isaac, but it often gets spelled incorrectly, just like this.

Out of your list I'd say Caleb is perfect with Reuben. Other names that may fit.

Reuben and
Isaac.
Zachary.
Jacob
Joshua.
Marcus.
Gabriel
Anthony.
Patrick.
Dexter.
Carter.
Daniel.
Jensen.
Thomas.
Finley.
Harvey
.Ellis
Mason.
Malachi.
Ashton.
Elijah.
Sonny.
Arlo.
Matthew.
Ethan
Alexander.
Simon.
I was going to also suggest Nathan but When I'm saying them both in my head they're running into one another.

I like Jessie
Theo is nice but so overused

or
Jerome
Jethro
Joel
Silas
Seth
Jude
Nathan / Nathaniel
Jonah / Jonas
Issac

  • Theo - nice but way overused
  • Teddy - babyish and overused, ok short for Edward or Theodore
  • Caleb - ok
  • Bodhi - God no. Ludicrous
  • Spencer - estate agent
  • Jesse - like it
  • Henry - fine but dull and overused
  • Luca - fine but faddy
  • Freddie - way overused, ok short for Frederick or Alfred

When I was expecting my Reuben, my other choice was Gabriel. I still love it but he was definitely a Reuben. I think they go well together though Smile

goinginsaneinthemembrane · 10/05/2023 22:56

I think Caleb really goes. Isaac too.

bravotango · 11/05/2023 07:10

Immediately thought of Asher, which is a similar biblical vibe to Reuben I think

Arxx · 11/05/2023 19:39

Loved Reuben first time round but my husband wouldn’t let me use it. Freddie was also on our list and was so nearly the name but as much as I loved it, it just didn’t feel like the one. It was just ‘nice’.

Other names along those lines or ones I’ve seen recently and thought I wish I’d used that:

  • Kit
  • Jasper
  • Roman
  • Romeo
  • Nate
  • Ari
  • Leo
  • Blaine (a girl I went to school with had a little boy and called him Blaine last week and it’s really stuck in my mind ever since)
  • Brett
  • Max
  • Quinn
  • Ralph
  • Albie
  • Rory
  • Bertie

You can't go wrong with any of these OP, they are all lovely names that have a similar vibe to Reuben. If popularity bothers you then I'd guess Jacob is most commonly used and Abel least. Of the three I'd choose Caleb or Abel (I have a Reuben so I think we have similar taste in names!).

Sunflowerdayss · 17/05/2023 21:10

@User6761 I defo think we do! Loved all your suggestions but lots are used by friends / family already. Thanks so much for your comment and help!
