This is a Greek name. I thought it might be an alternative to less popular Phoebe.

Do you like it? Have you met one?

I like it and I know one 10 year old Hebe

Beamur · 08/05/2023 10:01

I like it and know one in her 20's

Baldieheid · 08/05/2023 10:02

I like it, but have only heard it as a name for a plant.

fairycupcakes · 08/05/2023 10:02

It’s growing on me the more I hear/see it but I still just think of heebee jeebees 🤷🏼‍♀️

tumpymummy · 08/05/2023 10:04

I like it. There was a girl in my son's class at school named Hebe. But when she was around year 3 she decided she would use her middle name as her first name so maybe she didn't like it?

BungleandGeorge · 08/05/2023 10:05

its perfectly nice but I think phoebe is nicer and people will mishear it as that

myextraordinarylife · 08/05/2023 10:07

I knew one Hebe who will be in her fifties now. She hated her name because of the "heebie jeebies" bullying at school. In adult life, people have made jokes about Hebe being the goddess of youth which have been basically calling her old.

Skybluepinky · 08/05/2023 10:12

Awful, what are yr other options?

WetBandits · 08/05/2023 10:15

All I can hear is this…😂

It's P as in Phoebe
H as in hoebe
O as in oebe
E as in ebe
B as in b-be
And E as in...
Ello there, mate!

DustyLee123 · 08/05/2023 10:16

Hebe reminds me of hobo, which is an old name for a homeless person.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 08/05/2023 10:19

I think it's a very sweet and pretty name.

cariadlet · 08/05/2023 10:19

I like the name and my first association is with the goddess but I wouldn't use it because of the potential for "heebie jeebies" name calling.

toastofthetown · 08/05/2023 10:29

I like Hebe, but would avoid it for two reasons. 1) Heebie jeebies and 2) though it’s not the same name as Phoebe, it sounds so similar that it blends in with all the Phoebes. In a setting with two Phoebes and a Hebe, Hebe isn’t going to sound distinct in any way.

Wishiwasalittlebitsmaller · 08/05/2023 10:30

I love it, my daughter went to school with a Hebe who had a role in the Harry Potter films as Dumbledores sister. Think it’s very sweet.

Beachywave · 08/05/2023 10:32

I know one in her twenties. I didn't like it at first but I really like the person and it suits her so the name has grown on me.

KirstenBlest · 08/05/2023 10:37

It's nice, and a nice plant

Modda · 08/05/2023 11:41

Is it heee beee?

Starchipenterprise · 08/05/2023 13:10

It was one of my choices 20 years ago. I was a keen gardener then. Still love it.

AutisticLegoLover · 08/05/2023 15:24

Hebe is one of the mumsnet mods I think.

Barbarbarf · 08/05/2023 15:26

Modda · 08/05/2023 11:41

Is it heee beee?

He-bee.

I like it.

drpet49 · 08/05/2023 15:26

Sounds like a sexually transmitted disease.

17caterpillars1mouse · 08/05/2023 16:37

I love it. Its on my potentials list if I have a girl.

There was a one year old Hebe at a creche I worked at when at university. She would be about 15 now. She's the only one I've ever met or even heard of

PickledScrump · 08/05/2023 18:01

Heebee jeebies association makes it unusable really. Just doesn’t sound nice
