Am I being paranoid?

We've decided to call our baby girl Lucy which we both love and think suits her, we are happy with the name but I'm starting to hear it everywhere we go. I knew of two other baby Lucy's before we made the decision however they are friends of friends so not likely to cross paths. But now everytime we're out we hear another child called Lucy of various ages, on TV there is always a character called Lucy, at the dentist the assistant is called Lucy is making me feel paranoid that the name is super popular and she'll be in a class with lots of other Lucy's.

I'm starting to become a bit obsessive about it and feel a bit of PNA creeping up which I had with my last. Is the name actually really popular or am I being paranoid/sensitive to hearing the name?

I think it is unconscious bias. Like if you are thinking of buying a car suddenly you see that car everywhere. I wouldn’t worry too much :) you can always look on baby name popularity lists and see how they rank it

It’s popular (because it’s a nice name) and you are more aware of it whereas before you wouldn’t have focused on hearing it.

In contrast I can't think of a single Lucy under 30. Certainly none in the school I work in

Look it up on the baby names popularity list. It was number 68 in the UK last year, so way less popular than Olivia, Mia, Ava etc.

Lucia seems to be fashionable now, and I guess some of them will get called Lucy

Never hear of little Lucy’s these days! It’s lovely use it!

I have only met one lucy so far, who was an adult, and that was years ago. It is a name I have always liked since watching the Lion, witch, and the wardrobe as a child. I think that it is a very underused name.
