We would love to read your comments:

Sonia
Primrose
Theda
Lianna or Leanna
Persephone
Alizée - like the singer, maybe too out there?
Holly
Rosalind
Miranda
Anna
Chloe-Grace - DH loves this, I'm not yet convinced

DH is Irish so we are looking for an Irish middle name, if you have any ideas. My favourite is Aisling because it means dream and I love that, but DH says he knows too many his own age so not sure if I can convince him. Looking for ideas with good meanings.

I like the ones that are a bit more uncommon such as Persephone, DH likes Chloe-Grace, Anna and Holly the most.

I like:
Holly
Anna
Miranda
Chloe ( but not Chloe-Grace)
Grace (on its own)

I'd avoid Aisling as a middle name. I'm Irish, and I agree with your H that it's passe. Actually, it's a by word for a very unimaginative young woman from a rural area who has a mediocre job in Dublin and goes home most weekends.

Suggestions for a middle name:
Liadan
Aoife
Orla
Una
Beibhinn
Caoilfhionn
Eabha

Anna Maeve

ourflagmeansdeath · 29/04/2023 13:50

Sonia - It's not to my taste
Primrose - I like it, it's a little hunger games but it's pretty as long as her nickname wouldn't be Prim but Rose!!
Theda - No? Not sure how to pronounce, doesn't seem pretty
Lianna or Leanna - I love Liana but not these spellings
Persephone - I really like this actually
Alizée - I don't mind it
Holly - It's really pretty
Rosalind - Gorgeous
Miranda - Seems too old fashioned
Anna - It's nice
Chloe-Grace - I dislike double barrell names a lot...so this is a no from me

My favourites from this list would be Holly or Rosalind

ShinyShinyShinyBootsOfLeather · 29/04/2023 13:53

Bit of an eclectic mix you have there!

I really like Persephone (nn Sephy... although reminds me of noughts and crosses which is quite a tragic book).

I also like Anna as a safe choice.

Miranda and Rosalind are fine, but a bit frumpy for my tastes.

Alizée sounds like Elysée to me which is the name of a big road in Paris. Chloe-Grace is awful (sorry to your dp).

Primrose is ok. Holly is too, but quite boring.

Theda and Sonia are horrible to my ears.

ShinyShinyShinyBootsOfLeather · 29/04/2023 13:54

Leanna isn't nice to me either

FayCarew · 29/04/2023 15:18

Sonia - ok, don't love it
Primrose - too prim-sounding
Theda - ok but too close to Thea
Lianna or Leanna - dated and will get Lee-arn-a
Persephone - too long Purse Effuny
Alizée - celebrity-inspired. no
Holly - ok
Rosalind - lovely but a bit long
Miranda - nice but a bit long
Anna - like.
Chloe-Grace -Chloe overused about 20years ago. Grace is a filler middle name. The hyphen is naff.

I'd go for Anna Rosalind.

Zola1 · 29/04/2023 15:22

Liana or Anna.
The others are awful especially primrose and sonia

Boughtitdownthemarket · 29/04/2023 15:24

What about Rosaleen if DH is Irish? (Little Rose)
Rosaleen Maeve

thisisallquitecomplicated · 29/04/2023 15:39

Persephone is literally the queen of the underworld. That meaning would put me off using it as a name for a child.

Floralnomad · 29/04/2023 16:00

Rosalind and Miranda are the best , I really dislike the first 6 on the list , Anna is a bit dull and Chloe- Grace isn’t a name , it’s 2 names with a hyphen and whilst both of them are perfectly fine on their own I really dislike hyphenated names . Aisling is lovely .

yikesanotherbooboo · 29/04/2023 16:06

Rosalind and Anna are my favourites.
Holly, Miranda and Persephone are alright .
Definite no to Chloe-Grace, Leanna/Lianna and Alizee.

LabLabrador · 29/04/2023 16:10

Chloe and Grace are both lovely names but horrible together.

Miranda is my favourite from your list.

FixItDuck · 29/04/2023 16:18

Anna Róisin is lovely.

Beautiful.

jomartin1979 · 17/05/2023 14:38

persephone is fab, greek vibe to it haha

Madamecastafiore · 17/05/2023 14:45

Persephone- love Percy for girl or boy.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 17/05/2023 14:52

Sonia-awful
Primrose-love
Theda- not keen
Lianna or Leanna- not keen
Persephone-like
Alizée -awful
Holly-boring
Rosalind- love
Miranda- love
Anna- love
Chloe-Grace- awful (both names are fine but not double barrelled)

StrawberriesSW1 · 17/05/2023 14:54

Love them all except Alizee. Love Primrose and Chloe but she might be called Rose.

Sonia - Sonia Jackson from EastEnders
Primrose - Twee
Theda - No
Lianna or Leanna - No
Persephone - No
Alizée - No
Holly - Pretty
Rosalind - Lovely
Miranda - Ok
Anna - a MN gave, but as my friend said very accurately the other day, "have you ever met one who wasn't a right c*nt?" She's right you know!
Chloe-Grace - the more you say it, the nicer it gets

Was coming to say the same... except using Sonia the Liverpudlian singer! 😂

Also, Holly - NO. The child is not a tree!

Some people have such weird ideas about names for their little humans. They forget that they will grow and have to use the name for life. NO one wants to be lumbered with Persephone 🤔

Topazbutterfly · 19/05/2023 17:55

My favourite from your list is Primrose, I think it's a lovely flower name but it isn't as common these days, which is a shame. I also really like Leanna, Rosalind and Anna. I think they're great names, traditional but not overused

MargotBamborough · 19/05/2023 20:29

I like Anna, Rosalind, Miranda and Holly.

Chloe and Grace are nice separately but awful hyphenated.
