Clara - not keen, sounds clunky to me
Anja - quite nice but would spell it Anya in England
Kaia - alright, the sound is quite nice but looks a bit odd written down
Tessa - like, probably my favourite on your list
Elva - not heard of the name before but not super keen but also don’t find it bad
Lyra - like
Orla - like
Hallie - like, close second favourite on your list

  • Clara: I think this name is timeless and classic. It's a beautiful name that would work well for a baby or an adult.
  • Anja: This name is unique and has a great sound. It's not a name that you hear every day, which makes it all the more special.
  • Kaia: I love this name! It's short, sweet, and has a really cool vibe to it.
  • Tessa: It's cute, feminine, and has a great meaning.
  • Elva: This name has a really pretty sound to it. It's not a name that you hear very often, which makes it all the more special.
  • Lyra: This name is unique and has a really cool meaning. It's a great choice for parents who want to give their child a name that's a little bit different.
  • Orla: This name is really pretty and has a great sound to it. It's a unique name that would work well for a baby or an adult.
  • Hallie: I think this name is really cute and has a great meaning. It's a name that would work well for a little girl or a grown woman.

my personal favorite is Clara first then Lyra.

Clara hands down! So beautiful

HuggingtheHRT · 23/04/2023 13:30

Anya (with a y) is lovely. Not keen on the rest.

I keep seeing Hallie pop up on boards and can't see the attraction at all.

shoopshoopdedoo · 23/04/2023 13:33

I really love Anja. One of my favourite names. Also like Clara and Lyra is OK. Not so fond of the others, especially Hallie, which I don’t like at all.

LadyWithLapdog · 23/04/2023 13:35

Clara is nice. Hallie least of all

FayCarew · 23/04/2023 14:44

Clara - not keen, but like Cara
Anja - Anya is better
Kaia - ok but it's a bit too vowelly. Might get lots of Hiya Kaia jokes
Tessa - Tess is nice, not sure about Tessa
Elva - not keen. Nothingy, Neither Eva nor Ellie
Lyra- Not keen, disappears into all the Lily, Lyla, Lila, Luna type names
Orla - Not keen, too vowelly and too similar to Oral
Hallie - Not keen, seems made up

FayCarew · 23/04/2023 14:55

Me neither.

shakeitoffsis · 23/04/2023 14:55

Elva is lovely.

HowManySunflowers · 23/04/2023 14:58

Love Clara, Tessa and Lyra.
Kaia is nice, Orla is ok.
I like Anya more than Anja.
Not keen on Elva or Hallie.

RoxanaRoxana · 23/04/2023 15:02

I like Clara and Tessa.

A warning in Lyra if like PP you think it’s unusual - in my DD’s nursery group there are 10 girls, including 2 Lyras and 2 Lylas.

salamithumbs · 23/04/2023 15:04

I love Anja/Ania, Lyra and Elva, all sweet but elegant.
Clara and Tessa are nice, Kaia is ok but to me a bit harsh sounding, prefer Maia.
Don't like Hallie or Orla at all; Hallie reminds me of Hal, the dad from Malcolm in the Middle and I just know way too many Orlas in their 30s-40s (I'm in Dublin, very common here, also just don't like the sound!).
Not sure if you're in Ireland, if you are you might like Ailbhe to combine the sounds of Elva and Ania? If you're not, might be a pain to spell.

I actually love the name Ailbhe! I don't live in Ireland but all of my family are Irish, my only concern with that name is spelling. I'm called Aoife and am constantly having to correct people on how to say it.
I would go with Alva but not sure if that looks wrong written down. Thoughts? xx

Clara!

also like Lyra, Kaia and Hallie

salamithumbs · 23/04/2023 15:47

I've actually met a girl who spells it Alva so it's been done! (Although obviously Ailbhe is much more common). I do understand the pain of people pronouncing/spelling your name wrong, I'm Katy but people write it as Katie (fair enough, much more common spelling here) but then see it written Katy and pronounce it Kathy! I hoped Katy Perry would make that spelling better known but I still get called Kathy all the time, even had a Catty once or twice 😂

KnickerlessParsons · 23/04/2023 16:03

Clara love it
Anja no
Kaia no
Tessa love it
Elva sounds like a fish
Lyra no
Orla ok
Hallie no

ourflagmeansdeath · 23/04/2023 17:45

Clara - Beautiful name
Anja - Prefer Anya a lot
Kaia - It's pretty
Tessa - Love Tessa
Elva - Makes me think of Elvis? Not for me
Lyra - I lovee Lyra so much, it's beautiful
Orla - It's nice
Hallie - Think it's quite sweet!

My favourite is Lyra definitely. But you have a lovely list of names there.

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/04/2023 20:08

Tessa
or second choice Elva (if feeling more daring), or Clara (if not)

Clara - nice, if mildly twee
Anja - just spell it Anya, I prefer Anna
Kaia - no, faddy and WAGy
Tessa - Solid, nice as a nn for Esther also
Elva - I do like it, but it does make me think of elves. How about Ida or Esther?
Lyra - so many Lola/Leah/Lena/Lyra/Lara/Luna/Lila/Leila names - they all blur into one
Orla - OK, qu popular, prefer Oona
Hallie - faddy

Mummytobe333 · 26/04/2023 20:55

My favourite is Orla! Such a pretty name. Followed by Hallie.
Not keen on Clara, Anja or Kaia sorry!

Elspethelf · 27/04/2023 02:37

I’m joining in with the pro Hallie crowd. I had a daughter named Halima, nn Hali, so I’m quite partial :)

I think your list is lovely. You can’t go wrong

user1492757084 · 27/04/2023 04:32

These are the names I like, unspired by your list..
Clare
Tess or Tessa
Angela or Angelica
Lila

sashh · 27/04/2023 05:30

Clara - lovely
Anja - prefer Anya
Kaia - something you shout in karate classes
Tessa - I like
Elva - nope
Lyra - not sure
Orla - hate it, it reminds me of 'oral'
Hallie - not sure
