FayCarew · 21/04/2023 20:04

Not keen on it. Seems more like a surname

ItsCalledAConversation · 21/04/2023 20:05

Not keen. Bit chavvy, sorry.

NuffSaidSam · 21/04/2023 20:05

I quite like it.

It wouldn't make my top 20, but it's a nice sound, not overly used, easy to say and spell.

RoxanaRoxana · 21/04/2023 20:06

Fine, if you’re in a 90s teen soap.

Whiskeypowers · 21/04/2023 20:06

Makes me think of fish - coley

cptartapp · 21/04/2023 20:07

Americanised.
Undesirable connotations.

AlbertaWildRose · 21/04/2023 20:08

Sounds like a cowboy to me.

PiaMaria · 21/04/2023 20:09

To me it's also a bit chavvy

MartinFowler · 21/04/2023 20:36

No don't like it

MirandaBlu · 21/04/2023 20:48

It is a last name/surname. I think the famous US connotation is Buffalo Bill Cody. As a stand-alone first name, it probably peaked in the late '90s/early '00s, perhaps a little bit later for a girl. It's also sometimes used as a short form for Dakota or Nicodemus. Or, I guess, Coatbridge. I don't personally love it, unless it has family significance (for example, the baby's mother's or grandmother's original last name/surname), but there's nothing terrible about it, either. (I have an automatic tech-related association with it though: "Is he cody?" "Oh yeah, he writes loads of code!")

PickledScrump · 21/04/2023 21:39

It’s a bit American 90s/00s teen movie. Inoffensive though

RuthW · 21/04/2023 22:02

Not good

salamithumbs · 22/04/2023 01:31

I don't really like it, seems kind of dated- it seemed really popular in America maybe 20 years ago? Also reminds me of the main boy from the Barney film! If you like C names, maybe Cian, Callum, Caleb, Charlie?

user1492757084 · 22/04/2023 06:28

Cody is better suited as a surname.

Moonandstars124 · 22/04/2023 07:14
