Hi desperately needing help to decide between 2 names!

Frederick
Benjamin

I know Frederick is popular at the moment but I love Freddie and really love Ben also!

I love both of those names.

Frederick was the top pick for my second, but she's a girl. Knowing her now she'd have been Fred or Rick for short.

If you're down to 2 best to wait until you meet baby. One might just fit them better.

shoopshoopdedoo · 19/04/2023 16:54

I like both - you can't go wrong! However, I swear that every other little boy I meet is called Freddie (I have a 2yo), so I would go with Benjamin. Would be nice to meet a little Ben!

Newmum777777 · 19/04/2023 16:54

Thank you! He’s here and I just cannot decide for the life of me!

I love Benjamin! He can be Benji or Benny which I think are really cute. Ben when he’s older. Frederick is nice too but Freddie is very common at the moment, I’ve lost count of how many I know!

RuthW · 19/04/2023 16:56

Frederick.

DarkDarkNight · 19/04/2023 16:57

They’re both nice. I would choose Benjamin/Ben.

Twizbe · 19/04/2023 16:59

Ah... I think I'd agree that Freddie is very popular but the full version isn't as popular.

But then my eldest is called James and that's a very popular name too. I've met quite a few and there's another one in his class. It's still a very timeless name so won't be as dateable as other fashionable names.

I love Benji as a nn for Benjamin. I also loved Benedict.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 19/04/2023 17:05

Ha I know brothers with these names. I vote Ben, it’s a friendly name and I’ve really come round to it the last couple of years. There were 4 in my class at school but much fewer nowadays.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 19/04/2023 17:07

And yes there are freddies everywhere. You hear it at every park and baby group, honestly not joking! And I have 4 friends/relatives with Freddies (5 and under).

Swalewhale · 19/04/2023 17:07

Benjamin

Swalewhale · 19/04/2023 17:08

Post a photo and we'll see which he looks like! (If you want to)

WavingThroughYoWindow · 19/04/2023 17:08

Both are lovely, but Benjamin is my favourite. I think a PP is right - maybe see what feels right when you meet your baby?

Mumofgirls2017 · 19/04/2023 17:15

frederick

Nap1983 · 19/04/2023 17:17

Frederick is terrible and Freddie is super common/a bit nedy.
Benjamin is nice. Just Ben for me is lovely

Comedycook · 19/04/2023 17:18

Definitely Benjamin.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 19/04/2023 17:22

I vote Benjamin too

GoodVibesHere · 19/04/2023 17:23
