Madeleine.

DuchessOfSausage · 12/04/2023 12:34

Hallie - seems modern and made up. I can't see the appeal.
Isabel / Isabelle - overused
Lottie (but not Charlotte) - people will assume it's short for Charlotte.
Madeleine / Madeline - Madeleine is ok but not keen on Maddie

thefarrierswife · 12/04/2023 12:41

Lottie! Great name

Oldermum84 · 12/04/2023 12:54

Hallie.

Beachhutnut · 12/04/2023 13:01

Hallie or Lottie

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/04/2023 13:44

Madeline or Isabel. I prefer the Isobel spelling though

Nobody has ever assumed that my Lottie is Charlotte, or even asked!

TheDuchessOfMN · 12/04/2023 14:22

I like Madeleine and Isabel.
Lottie is ok.
I really don’t like Hallie.

summersanchez · 12/04/2023 14:30

Madeleine and Isabelle

summersanchez · 12/04/2023 14:31

BeeBB · 12/04/2023 06:54

Hallie - too American and not a proper name.
Isabel / Isabelle - the 2nd best on your list.
Lottie (but not Charlotte)- first choice if choosing Charlotte as personally I like proper full names that can last a lifetime with the flexibility of shortening.
Madeleine / Madeline - still think of Madeline McCann.

Exactly this
Although I do like the name

DuchessOfSausage · 12/04/2023 14:43

@Heckythump1 , not yet. I'm going by names like Tony and Mandy, where people assume they are Mr A. Surname and Ms A Surname. Neither has a longer name on their birth certificate.
I also know a Tom and Alex, who aren't Thomas and Alexander, and a Charlie who is not Charlotte

shoopshoopdedoo · 12/04/2023 15:27

I like Isabel and love Lottie, but I’d personally only use as a nickname for Charlotte, even if Charlotte is never used. I know this divides opinion on here, though!

Madeline is OK. I really don’t like Hallie.

MerryMarigold · 12/04/2023 15:47

I know a Hallie who is 3. I know very many Issy's (Isabelle/ Isabella) from about 8-14. I love Lottie. I like Charlotte too. I was going to call Ds1 Madeleine but I know a few Maddies and I think the full name is a bit if a mouthful.

Easterfunbun · 12/04/2023 15:48

Madeline.

MerryMarigold · 12/04/2023 15:53

How about Julia or Juliette?

brunettemummy2109 · 12/04/2023 17:01

I like Hallie Biscuit

Beaverbridge · 12/04/2023 17:03

Hallie. Others are old fashioned.

octoberfarm · 12/04/2023 21:31

Love all of them but probably:

  1. Madeleine/Hallie (tied!)
  2. Lottie
  3. Isabel
whatsyourpoison12 · 12/04/2023 21:39

Isabel.

would you consider other names

sunshineday223 · 13/04/2023 10:02

@whatsyourpoison12 - yes absolutely!

@MerryMarigold I do really like Juliet but my DH isn't keen :/

@Heckythump1 ah that's good to know! I do think Lottie is such a sweet name!

@BeeBB I do worry about it becoming a stressful thing!

I have a 3 year old who is also very opinionated on this subject! For some unknown reason she is not at all happy with Madeline or Hallie but seems to be okay with Isabel or Lottie. Her fave names are Annabelle (I assume due to the baby Annabelle doll) or Serena (no idea where that's come from!) I like Serena but DH doesn't! Although not sure how much I should really consider a 3yo's opinion! 😅

Ooh what's your 3 year old called? That could change things completely!

Pemba · 13/04/2023 13:47

Don't allow your DD to choose, she's three! I'm surprised she's not suggesting Peppa, Dora or maybe Barbie. (Actually, Dora is OK).

I think Madeline/Madeleine or Isabel/Isobel are absolutely gorgeous names. Isabel has been so popular for quite a few years though, so going by that I'd pick Madeline.

Lottie is a bit cutesy especially as a standalone name, not short for Charlotte. I do think Charlotte is a nice name (although not so much as Madeline or Isabel). IMO, the 'char' bit is the most beautiful part of 'Charlotte, not the' lotte' bit, so a standalone Lottie is cheated out of that!

Hallie, hmm, it's OK I suppose.

DuchessOfSausage · 13/04/2023 14:17

@sunshineday223 , your 3-yr old will probably suggest the name of a doll or cartoon character, and should have no say.
DC2 got no say in naming DC1.

Having said that, I do know 2 siblings and the elder one chose her sister's name. They both have fairly similar names, and she said it was the name of a character in a book. Her parents liked it.

JamSandle · 13/04/2023 14:20

Isabel
