Our baby boy will have two older brothers and it seems to be a great fit. It seems to be very much "out of fashion" but we like it, what's Mumsnet's opinion?

I think it's more popular than you think. My DSD has a Jacob at nursery and a Jacob at her football training. I know a couple other people with Jacobs. It's a good solid name I think.

sunshineandmango · 09/04/2023 20:46

Jacob is lovely! Know a few little Jacobs, seems relatively popular around here

AcrobaticCardigan · 09/04/2023 20:47

I really love it! I don’t consider it out of fashion at all.

hadenoughforever · 09/04/2023 20:48

Love it, knew quite a few Jacobs back in mid 90s when my eldest dd was born. Definitely a name I would have chosen if ex hadn’t vetoed it

Hibernatalie · 09/04/2023 20:49

Absolutely love it, one of my favourites

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/04/2023 20:49

I really like it. I think it was in my boy list fir dc2, who turned out to be dd.

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 09/04/2023 20:50

I think it's quite boring but there will probably always be a Jacob.

MsFrog · 09/04/2023 20:54

Love it, wanted it for my DS2, but DH said no coz he didn't want it getting shortened to "Jake"

shakeitoffsis · 09/04/2023 20:56

Boring

loobylou10 · 09/04/2023 20:57

Love it but I'm biased as I have one!

I've got a Jacob who's nearly 20 - he's never been 'Jake', even to school friends.

hanahsaunt · 09/04/2023 20:58

My third is Jacob (never anything other than Jacob) ❤️

Cuppaand2biscuits · 09/04/2023 20:58

I know several Jacobs of varying ages from preschool age to teenagers and NONE of them shorten it to Jake. It's a very solid name I think.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 09/04/2023 21:01

I like it

Neverknowinglysensible · 09/04/2023 21:03

It’s a very popular name, but I think that’s because it’s such a good name (I’m biased as my nephew is a Jacob), that can have a variety of shortenings. I know of Jakes, Jacks, Jays, JJs, even a Cub!

Mangolist · 09/04/2023 21:03

It's my grandson's name and I wasn't sure but now I really do like it

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/04/2023 22:26

I don’t think it’s out of fashion. It’s a nice name.

bellamountain · 09/04/2023 22:27

I think it's a lovely name.

pinkberet · 09/04/2023 22:29

I haven't taught a Jacob yet

Mumped · 09/04/2023 22:30

It’s lovely.

Kitcaterpillar · 09/04/2023 22:30

I'm not a fan but it's definitely not out of fashion. Plenty of small Jacobs roaming about.

MyNameOnHisGuitar · 09/04/2023 22:32

I know 5 Jacobs ranging from 6 months to 14 years. It’s a lovely name.

PickledScrump · 09/04/2023 22:33

I like it, definitely not out of fashion but not overly popular either

SittingOnTheChair · 09/04/2023 22:34

I don't know any Jacobs. It's a great name.

Judgyjudgy · 09/04/2023 22:35

Beautiful, I love Joshua too. And James!
