Brother for Marcus

Hi everyone,

I am almost in the third trimester expecting my second baby boy. My eldest, Marcus, is almost 4.

My husband and I are a bit stuck on a name. In general we find that there are a lot of names we both like but not enough to choose, or what he loves I don't and vice versa. We don't have a shortlist and only have one name that we are really considering - Gabriel.

The fact that I feel quite relaxed about it and aren't constantly scrolling through name lists is making me feel a bit mixed. Is it because we have found our name? Obviously this is a huge decision and I want to give it proper time and attention but nothing else is jumping out to either of us.

I never discuss names with anyone I know but Mumsnet has always been good to me with anonymous advice! Just throwing it out there, do you like the name, does it go nicely with Marcus? Any other suggestions?

You definitely have the feel of what we like, my husband really likes Fabian, I've never even thought about it before but this has given me some more to consider. Do you like Gabe as a nickname for Gabriel by the way? Inevitable once he's older probably. I do like it but my husband isn't sure as much as he loves Gabriel, I think he's coming round to it though

Aww @CinderellaFant congratulations!!! Were you set on Gabriel the whole pregnancy? I found with Marcus I got cold feet for a moment towards the end but as soon as he was here I was so happy we chose it. I think the same will happen this time, maybe it's just late nerves about making sure we make the right decision!!

David is my Dad's name and Marcus' middle name - I love it but couldn't use for both boys. Benjamin is my nephew's name. We did consider Felix actually and were keen on a Roman theme, and the name Roman, love them both I think Gabriel keeps winning though

No it took ages to decide! I originally liked Peter, but it just didn't seem right. I think we decided on Gabriel when I was about 32/33 weeks but still felt a bit unsure, but now that he's here I can't imagine him as anything else!

I always like Miles with Marcus. But Gabriel/Gabe is also fab :)
