Edmund or Jude?

The two names we have shortlisted at the moment are:

Jude Benjamin
Edmund Benjamin

Which do you prefer?

Benjamin as a middle name is non-negotiable but for the first name we're looking for something quite traditional, classic, but that's not too popular. We also like Biblical names. So any other suggestions that might fit the bill would be welcome!

Love Jude and it goes best with middle name Benjamin. I’m not keen on Edmund as a first name, seems a bit stuffy in comparison.

Other suggestions:

Joseph
James
Joshua

Jude

sunflowerdaisyrose · 04/04/2023 21:01

I don't like Edmund, so I'd chose Jude. However, I think Benjamin is a lovely name so would chose that as a first name!

rattlinbog · 04/04/2023 21:02

Benjamin as first name!

Benjamin Edmund ❤️

StopFeckingFaffing · 04/04/2023 21:03

I don't love either of them

Jude is a bit dated (very 2000) and Edmund is a bit stuffy

How about Lawrence, Hugo, Miles or Duncan?

Derrymum123 · 04/04/2023 21:06

Jude is far nicer. Don't really like Edmund, reminds me of Blackadder.

WhatFreshHeckle · 04/04/2023 21:13

I love Edmund and also really like Jude. I think Jude is a bit trendier so more likely to date, so I'd pick Edmund

aNewYorkerInLondon · 04/04/2023 21:16

Love Edmund!! Classic but uncommmon.

Jude is too trendy.

Luredbyapomegranate · 04/04/2023 21:35

Can’t stand the name Benjamin

paulinesmithson · 04/04/2023 21:40

edmund

SertralineAndTherapy · 04/04/2023 21:45

St Edmund of Abingdon! I'd opt for that every time.

LilacSloth · 04/04/2023 21:46

Not a fan of Edmund. Jude is nice. How about:
Jonah Benjamin
Seth Benjamin
Raphael (Raphy) Benjamin
Gabriel (Gabe) Benjamin

Soapyspuds · 04/04/2023 21:59

Edmund reminds me of Blackadder.

Viviennemary · 04/04/2023 22:01

Jude is ok though I dont like it that much. Edmund is awful. not keen on Benjamen either. In fact it's dire tbh.

SequinsandStilettos · 04/04/2023 22:09

Jude

Edmund is that turkish-delight scoffing wanker from Narnia, treacherous little toerag

Jude Benjamin

Only downside to that is it sounds a little like a Goldie Hawn movie! (Private Benjamin, am showing my age now)

Throwing in the name Caleb for your consideration

TheIsleOfTheLost · 04/04/2023 22:11

I love the name Edmund. The thing that put me off using it for ds2 was that ds1 was of an age to be watching Peppa Pig. Edmund Elephant is soooo irritating! Through all of that now though, so it didn't irritate for long.

Marymary987 · 04/04/2023 22:13

Jude. I really don’t like Edmund.

Twoinapod · 04/04/2023 22:15

Benjamin is by far the best. Edmund is too old fashioned and Jude isn’t nice, sounds like a bad nn. I’d go Benjamin

Notellinganyone · 04/04/2023 22:19

Edmund. I have one so I’m biased. Great name, classic but plenty of shortenings.

user1492757084 · 05/04/2023 09:21

Jude is not a fave for me, sorry.
Edmund Benjamin is not the best - they do not sound good together.

Can’t stand the name Benjamin

@HappyMe6 What is the point of your comment when OP has clearly said using it is non-negotiable?

ourflagmeansdeath · 06/04/2023 11:32

Jude Benjamin is absolutely gorgeous ❤

bigknickersbigknockers · 06/04/2023 11:34

Jude Benjamin, Edmund in my mind is always associated with Edmund Blackadder and Baldrick
