We're expecting DS2 any day now and we don't have a name settled. We both love DS1s name which is made up of 2 of the below. Any thoughts or suggestions on the below would be really helpful, we keep going in circles and I am feeling really confused!
James nn Jim / Jimmy
Alexander nn Alex
Henry
Leo
Christopher / nn Chris or Kit
Theo
Arthur
Edward nn Ed Ted or Ned
Louis
Rex
Tobias / Toby
Stanley nn Stan
Sidney nn Sid

I love James through Louis on your list, big fan of the more classical names. If I'm honest I wouldn't say that any of the last 4 really fit in quite the same way?

James - love but not the nickname Jimmy

My favourites from your list are Theo and Henry

Not keen on Rex or Sidney (both remind me of the toy story characters 😅)

Twizbe · 27/03/2023 19:09

Love James and the nn Jimmy (but then I have one)

ourflagmeansdeath · 27/03/2023 19:26

James - I love James but hate the nickname Jim/Jimmy - James on it's own is lovely or Jamie or Jem if a nickname is needed. It's my son's middle name so biased. 😁
Alexander nn Alex - I love this so much but my son is this so I am biased again!
Henry - It's alright, a bit plain
Leo - I love Leo!
Christopher - I quite like this name actually!! Both Chris and Kit are good nicknames, but Kit is prob more original. You'd have to see what fit him.
Theo - Beautiful
Arthur - I quite like this, think it needs a comeback
Edward - It's okay, not very interesting. I do like Ted but as a nickname for Theodore
Louis - Beautiful
Rex - No. Not this when you have so many other lovely names on this list
Tobias / Toby - I actually really like this but Tobias would def need the nickname Toby
Stanley - I really dislike this, a lot.
Sidney - Same for Stanley. I think of it as more feminine now I suppose.

My favourites are James, Alexander and Louis. But I love/like them all really apart from Rex, Edward, Stanley and Sidney. Sorry not much help!

What a nice collection of names.

James - love James. I prefer Jamie as a diminutive
Alexander - my favourite from your list
Henry - love
Leo - love
Christopher - Chris or Kit - love
Theo - like
Arthur - less keen
Edward - yes to Ed, no to Ted or Ned
Louis - love, if pronounced properly
Rex - ok
Tobias / Toby - love Toby
Stanley / Stan - no
Sidney / Sid - no

HuggingtheHRT · 27/03/2023 19:59

James nn Jim / Jimmy - ok but a bit dull. Hate Jimmy as a nn

Alexander nn Alex - one of my favs

Henry - meh

Leo - OK

Christopher / nn Chris or Kit - love Kit!

Theo - oh god there's millions of them in my area...

Arthur - nice

Edward nn Ed Ted or Ned - also nice

Louis - dislike

Rex - I do know one under 5, but it's a dog's name to me.

Tobias / Toby - OK

Stanley nn Stan - love

Sidney nn Sid - the only one I know is a total dick which has ruined the name for me.

Alex, Kit or Stan are my top picks.

Love Alexander and James - my favourite boy names! I like Leo and Edward, and quite like Theo and Stanley.

I’m not so keen on Henry, Arthur, Louis, Tobias, Sidney and Rex.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/03/2023 21:52

I think the key thing is not Rex

Other than that, they are all overused other than the last 3, I’m not mad on Sid so I’d say Tobias or Stanley, probably Tobias on balance.

PritiPatelsMaker · 27/03/2023 22:37

My top 3 are the first 3 you posted Wink

James, Alexander then Henry.

I also like Arthur abbé Edward as Edward can give such lovely NNs.

Inspired from your list .. and in order of my preference ..
James Henry
Alexander Louis
Edward Leo
Christopher Sidney
Rex Arthur
Winston Tobias

Twoinapod · 28/03/2023 15:50

I like James but not Jim, James doesn’t need a nn. Henry and Tobias are also lovely. I don’t like the others

FayCarew · 29/03/2023 10:29

James nn Jim / Jimmy - fine, prefer Jamie
Alexander nn Alex - fine but popular
Henry - ok
Leo - ok but popular
Christopher / nn Chris or Kit - Chris seems dated and Kit too current
Theo - dislike it and it's too popular
Arthur- ok but popular
Edward nn Ed Ted or Ned
Louis- ok but popular
Rex - too current
Tobias / Toby - fine
Stanley nn Stan - not keen
Sidney nn Sid - not keen
