Could you comment on our list to help us pick the perfect name?

Clio (pronounced like Cleo, but we like it spelt like the muse)
Lily
Eva (we prefer this said the European way so more like EH-va with a long EH sound)
Chloe
Emma
Fiona
Lilou
Shelby
Ruby
Isabelle
Cassandra
Isabella
Emmie
Ellie
Eleanor "Ellie"

We need to narrow it down a bit, to find our top 10 and then go from there. Thanks for your help, comments appreciated.

Clio - Not a fan unfortunately
Lily - I think it's quite sweet despite the popularity
Eva - Wouldn't the Eh-va just be Ava? Correct me though if I'm wrong. Either way a bit boring
Chloe - I just think it's plain
Emma - Love Emma, very pretty
Fiona - Not for me, Shrek!
Lilou - No? - Is this even a name?
Shelby - Absolutely not
Ruby - I like this a name a not, think it needs a comeback!
Isabelle - Soft spot for this name, think it's super lovely
Cassandra - Not for me
Isabella - Lovely too and I prefer it solely because it doesn't have the Isabel/Isabelle spelling issue where people don't know how to spell the name. Most people don't spell it Isabela so there's that!
Emmie - It's lovely as a nickname, like Emery or Emmeline or Emily
Ellie - Not for me
Eleanor "Ellie" - This is fine, but I prefer Nora for a nickname

Favourites are Emma, Ruby and Isabelle 😊

Clio or Eva!

PritiPatelsMaker · 25/03/2023 08:29

Clio (pronounced like Cleo, but we like it spelt like the muse)** It's a car.
Lily ok but seems very popular, especially in the previous decade.
Eva (we prefer this said the European way so more like EH-va with a long EH sound). God just no. Our town's girls seems almost entirely made up of Eva and Evies.
Chloe. Lovely. Slightly 90s vibe though.
Emma. Classic, ordinary name.
Fiona. Nice name. Not overly popular but not so unusual that it would cause any problems for her.
Lilou ok
Shelby awful. It doesn't even sound nice.
Ruby. Ok but again a lot were born in the previous decade. It you like Ruby how about Pearl or Opal?
Isabelle. Lovely but there are just too many, especially when you add in all the variations of the spellings.
Cassandra. Nice, fairly unusual name.
Isabella. Same as Isabelle, just too popular for me.
Emmie. Sounds like a nickname rather than a full name.
Ellie. Ok but was very popular in the 00s
Eleanor. Nice, ordinary name. Again I doubt it will give her any problems and there are a few nicknames you could use.

Clio
Emma as second choice

If you switched Cassandra for Cassia I’d probably put that at number one

Clio - great - by far my favourite
Lily - done to death and wet

Eva - nice but done to death - and you won’t get the pronunciation you want
Chloe - ok, quite popular
Emma - a lovely classic
Fiona - ok, probably due a revival
Lilou - no, wet, sounds like a brand of tampon or a toy dog
Shelby - pretty grim 80s Americana
Ruby - nice, was very popular a while back
Isabelle - lovely but too recently overused
Cassandra - ok. Prefer Cassia, less tragic
Isabella - see Isabel
Emmie - too wet as a full name, fine as a nn for Emma/Emily etc
Ellie - done to death
Eleanor "Ellie" - see Ellie
